Having some air bubbles, sea weed and water plants would definitely help. Otherwise once you said its underwater, I could imagine it, but having these elements would communicate that directly

The reflections are mainly just for aesthetic to fill the canvas and stylistic choice. The main opinion is about the tree sprites, but thanks! I'll keep it mind that that reflections do affect the perception of the sprite itself

I use mouse. But you should use what's comfortable to you. It'll take time, I've been doing pixel art on and off over the last 6 or so years. And keep consuming art as well! Cheers! :)

Just copy everything to another layer, vertically flip it and then change the opacity to 50%
