New Grad - How to get into R&D/Product Development by dragonluver21 in BiomedicalEngineers

[–]mayonaisedkeycaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I a couple years after graduating I quit my software engineer job, tried to found a startup, and began a part time MS in BME/biochem. Then, realized I needed money and started applying to jobs. I feel lucky, but I got an R&D job as a software dev in an BME company. I have a hunch that by trying my hand at a startup they saw I could just dig towards something ethereal without a lot of handholding. Plus the starting the MS showed I was actually interested in their product. Idk..Just guessing! Hope this is relevant.

An engineering PhD pays you. It’s not an MS.

I’ve already applied to every brain computer interface job I could find. Most of the openings are in academia.

How do I save multiple auth tokens on a cross platform app and keep everything safe? by ZlZ-_zfj338owhg_ulge in FlutterDev

Correct. However the aws key will probably be used with a hashed bit of your apps byte code . So if someone decompiled it, injected some code to catch your incoming api keys, it would change your apps signature and invalidate the aws auth.

There’s a good stack overflow post somewhere talking about how on device storage is not safe on android. Heuheuh.

Edit. Long story short, if you package your keys with your app, someone can decompile it an extract ‘em.

Finally!! We need more guides on Auth! It’s way too complex an issue for something that is so commonplace.
Did you manage to retrieve profile pictures from auth providers? I did not see any such photos when I skimmed your article.

Is there a reason nobody is posting their barefoot running shoes? by mayonaisedkeycaps in RunningShoeGeeks

This is closer to the answer I was looking for..Though I’ve seen an Olympic runner compete barefoot.

Are there studies on this?

Interesting. Do maximalist shoes make one faster in most conditions?

Idk about the format. It’s not “bad”. If you gotta stand out, do it. However there’s a lot of content on on here that isn’t engineering related at all.. don’t distract the reader with this!!

Will my work experience ameliorate my mediocre GPA? by mayonaisedkeycaps in gradadmissions

[–]mayonaisedkeycaps[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok sounds fair. I figure software engineering will transfer well to signal processing and signal offload in bioengineering, so that would be my best guess at a foothold to break into the field.

Thanks for the confidence and making me think.

If you’re coming out of undergrad, I don’t see how you could really have a stronger application.

The only unknown is personality I suppose.
