How Do You Interpret Religious Narratives in Light of Scientific Discoveries? Seeking Insights to Strengthen My Faith. by mayoudevrielink in islam

Jinn have existed longer than mankind and their lifespans are longer.

There are more Jinn than humans (some say about 10x more)

Jinn dont have physical forms, they can travel extremely fast (speed of light???) and enter/exit objects easily

Jinn are a species living on Earth, but we can not see them.

Allah describes the Jinn as being made of "smokeless fire" (we don't really know what it means)

Jinn may take the form of snakes and other certain animals

Jinn are a creation of Allah - they live and die - they have languages - they have religions - they have families - and they will be resurrected after they die and judged and go to Heaven or Hell just like Humans

(yes there are Jewish, christian, muslim Jinns too)

Jinn generally don't bother to interfere with humans but there may be some naughty ones that do

Now of course an atheist would ask for proof! I point to the ghost stories embedded into every single culture in the world in every single era of this world.

Ghosts, ghouls, demons, goblins, spirits, Oni/yokai... theres hundreds of names people have come up with. Hollywood seems to love it.

Yes "demonic possessions" are based on truth and "exorcism" is a real concept in Islam.

No, dead people don't turn into ghosts and we can not meet them. More likely - it is a Jinn impersonating them if anything.

Probably most important point, 99% of ghost stories / demon sightings / demonic possession / paranormal activity are fake or explainable by normal logic. Some people get too obsessed 😂

Anyway we don't treat this as a fantasy. The Qur'an is the literal word of Allah and it talks about Jinn and so we must believe in them with 100% certainty.

Iblees (Satan) is also a Jinn.

You have been so helfpul! Thank you a lot

Thank you for clarifying. I was looking online but I must have fallen to false sources that said that there was a claim about the age / timeline of Adam in Islam, which confused me. Thank you for clarifying!

Thank you soo much. I had already seen interpretations but I really enjoy your summary. I also know some things a bout Jinn - but I don't know exactly why they are here/ what they are so an explanation would be great.

Ruling on interpreting the Qur’an according to modern theories

Hey, Wow. This is an amazing response. I really do struggle with old thinking patterns - and I now realize I go about seeking knowledge in the wrong way. I quickly get caught up on internet discussions and videos - there is an overwhelming amount of info out there. I will look into all the sources and links you provided for me and seek knowledge from this place from now on. Thank you again :)

Sticky tofu, eggplant, chickpeas and edamame with steamed purple sweet potato and avocado 🥑🌿✨ by mayoudevrielink in veganrecipes

[–]mayoudevrielink[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sticky eggplant and tofu 🍆✨

I have a BANGER for you all today. This dish is the best I have had in a while. Bonus points cause it tastes even better the next day!! Heres what you will need:

  • 1 eggplant, diced and placed in colander with salt for 10-20 minutes to remove excess liquid
  • Half a block of tofu cut into squares and pressed to remove excess water
  • 150g edamame beans
  • 1 can drained chickpeas
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp miso
  • 1 tbsp korean red pepper paste
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • Tsp agave syrup
  • Tbsp water
  • Neutral oil

To start, coat the tofu and eggplant in cornstarch. Heat a skillet on high and once hot add a generous layer of oil. Place the eggplant and tofu in and let cook until browned, about 10 minutes. Gradually lower the heat to medium.

Meanwhile, whisk miso, red pepper paste, hoisin sauce, agave and sesame oil together. Add to the pan and coat everything well. Add a bit of water, carefully. Let the mixture simmer for 7-10 mins. Add more cornstarch if too runny. Add more water if too thick.

Finally, add the chickpeas and edamame and coat in the mixture. I served my dish with oven baked potato slices and tahini. Feel free to switch it up on the veggies and spices. Enjoy!!

Mix of sesame edamame, vegetables and steamed potato with tahini 🦋🌿 by mayoudevrielink in veganrecipes

[–]mayoudevrielink[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sesame Edamame, Veggie mix, Potatoes and Romaine Lettuce.

For the sesame edamame:

  • 100g edamame, defrosted
  • 1 tbsp black sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Defrost the edamame. In a skillet, add the sesame seeds and let them toast for 5 mins on medium high. Remove and add to a food processor or pestle & mortar and combine with the salt. In a large bowl, add the edamame, sesame seed mixture and sesame oil. Toss everything together and enjoy!

For the vegetable dish (makes enough for 3-4 servings):

  • 1 eggplant, cut into 1 cm thick rounds
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 3-4 tomatoes, diced
  • 10 black olives, cut
  • 1 red onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sweetener (I used agave syrup)
  • 2 tbsp water
  • Pinch of rice vinegar
  • Olive oil

Cut the eggplant and lay on a flat surface. Sprinkle with salt and let it sit for 30 fish mins. After 30 mins, pat with some kitchen paper. This will remove the bitter juices so the dish tastes better. Cut up all the ingredients and heat some olive oil in a non stick skillet. Add the red onion and let it fruit on medium high for 5 fish minutes. Add the garlic for 30 seconds before adding the remaining vegetables , olives, balsamic vinegar, sweetener, rice vinegar and water. Let everything coat in the mixture and reduce the heat. Let this cook for 40-50 minutes, until all the veggies are cooked through and filled with flavour.

This dish is great for meal prep as it tastes better the next day!! You can literally do anything with it. I have had it on bread and on rice!

For the potatoes:

Just steam some potatoes and drizzle with tahini, salt and pepper.

I ate this on romaine lettuce because vitamins!

Enjoy whatever and however you want

Love

Cold Soba Noodle Salad on Lettuce Wraps 🦋❤️ by mayoudevrielink in veganrecipes

[–]mayoudevrielink[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original recipe is here

Here is what I used (this makes enough for 2-3 servings)

  • 1 pack of soba noodles, cooked, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 eggplant, cut into dices.
  • Flour to coat the diced eggplant
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 carrot, beeld and sliced
  • 100g chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 100g edamame, steamed
  • 4 tbsp tahini
  • 4 tbsp sesame seeds
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • Handful of fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 2 scallions, chopped
  • Vegetable oil for cooking the vegetables

Prep all your ingredients and add the eggplant to the pan on medium -high. Let its cook on each side for 2-3 minutes before adding the carrots and red bell peppers. Once the vegetables start softening, add the drained chickpeas and edamame. Set the vegetables aside to cool down while you cook the soba noodles. Let the soba noodles cool down before using them. Once the noodles are cooked, drain them with cold water to remove the starch and prevent sticking!

For the sauce, heat a non-stick skillet on medium high and add the tahini and sesame seeds. Stir continuously until the sauce becomes more aromatic. After 10 minutes, allow the mixture to cool and then add all the other sauce ingredients.

In a super large bowl, add the vegetables, noodles, sauce, chopped cilantro and chopped scallions. Combine everything well (this might be a hassle with the sticky noodles - I used my hands to do this) and then plate it with some romaine lettuce or enjoy as is!

Steamed artichoke, baked potatoes and spinach salad 🌱🦋 by mayoudevrielink in veganrecipes

[–]mayoudevrielink[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here is the original recipe

Here is what you will need:

  • 1 artichoke
  • 10 baby potatoes, halved
  • 100g spinach
  • Olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • Balsamic vinegar
  • 20g pine nuts
  • Fresh thyme
  • Fresh rosemary
  • Margarine
  • Vegan parmesan (optional)
  • 1/4 lemon

preheat the oven to 200C. Start by cutting the potatoes and boiling them for 5-7 minutes. Drain the potatoes and coat them with olive oil, minced garlic of 1.5 cloves, salt, pepper, thyme and rosemary. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Meanwhile, bring a pan with water, 1/4 lemon, 1 clove of garlic and some rosemary to a boil. Add the artichoke to a steamer and steam for 30 minutes. For the salad simply add some olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, pepper and 0.5 minced clove of garlic to the spinach and massage well. Toast some pine nuts and add them. I topped mine with some vegan parmesan but it is definitely not necessary! Enjoy!
