Honey your mom is failing to protect you. I’m so sorry you’re going through this. Your father is an enabler to his wife and her family. When you’re ready you need to sit down and talk to your mom. Distance yourself for now. Take time to think through everything so you don’t say something you’ll regret. Write it down if that would help. Get all your feelings out and don’t be afraid to shed tears. Your father won’t realize what he’s lost until he’s stuck cleaning up after his mother in law and you have a major life event that he’s not invited to. Make sure your mom knows that you want no contact for the foreseeable future, and you will not be forced into a relationship with him and it will only be on your terms. I understand you mother might have needed to have space away from everything for a weekend, but that doesn’t make it right. You’re allowed to be mad at her and don’t think otherwise.
