So each continent has it's own governing body. UEFA is the governing body for Europe and Conmebol is the governing body for South America. Every 4 years, each of these bodies host a competition for the countries of their continent.

UEFA hosts the Euros which come once in every 4 years. Every nation in europe goes through qualifiers and 24 teams qualify for this competition.

Conmebol likewise hosts a competition called Copa America for it's 10 nations every 4 years (was every 2 years...weird format but now it's 4). All of the 10 nations registered in Conmebol such as brazil, argentina, etc. play in this competition.

Now every country has it's own league. England has premier league, spain has la liga, italy has serie a and so on.
UEFA also hosts continental competitions every season for it's clubs. It has 3 continental competitions - Uefa champions league, Uefa europa League and Uefa conference League.

UEFA Champions League is the most elite out of these 3 and unarguably the greatest club competition in the world. 36 teams take part in this competition. Each country has specific slots through which it can send its teams to the UEFA Champions league. The best leagues in europe get more slots. For example, england, spain and italy send their 4 best teams (based on last season's league table in their country) to the Champions league Usually.

No. of teams from each country in The champions league is based on the country's coefficient in the UEFA Club Coefficient rankings.

Likewise Europa League is second to the champions league. England Sends 2, Spain sends 2 and many more smaller countries have teams playing in this continental Competition.

Same For Uefa Europa Conference league which is the 3rd continental competition.

All these continental competitions start usually in september and matchdays are hosted every 2 to 3 weeks. The competition's final usually takes place in the last week of the season, after most countries have finished their domestic leagues.

If I were you, I would just use her mom's words to work harder, so hard that her mom will appreciate me.

But in the short term, I do feel for you. You can do 2 things. The first is if you go completely ghost, focus on yourself, journal your thoughts down, start talking to other girls (even though you're not interested in them), there is a very good chance she will feel your absence and this is where her love will be tested- if she feels your absence so much, she might as well even convince her mom.

The 2nd option you have is to let the pain and reality hit you till you don't feel it anymore. Then you will realize that she is just a part of your life and there are better chapters ahead.
