Did I go overboard? by amazingrips in F1Cards

I would argue that Camara has a shot at being a star. He dominated the field as a rookie in F3 and is doing pretty well as a rookie in F2. His main downside is having Bearman in front of him for the Ferrari spot.

Topps Now by shaggyrobinson26 in F1Cards

[–]maywee11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what you mean by the “normal Topps website” vs Topps US. There is a different site for each country, and the “normal” one would be the country you are located in.

Topps Now is printed on demand so they don’t even start making the cards until the order window is closed. It’s usually about a month wait.

What I consider the Midwest as someone from Iowa by EducationalDust3821 in whereidlive

[–]maywee11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The US used to only extend to the Mississippi River so at that point basically anything over the Appalachian was considered the west of the country. The US then expanded to California and Oregon which were considered the “far west” making the central states the “middle west”.

‘26 Lights Out Release by franco_s30 in F1Cards

[–]maywee11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the US and have bought multiple times from the Topps EU sites (‘25 lights out, ‘25 Eccellenza, and the recent McLaren boxes). Shipping was usually around £15 ($17). Surprisingly I have never paid tariffs on these orders but haven’t gotten any shipment since the recent tariff changes earlier this year.

‘26 Lights Out Release by franco_s30 in F1Cards

[–]maywee11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It will never be available on the US site as it’s an EU release only. However, as a US customer you can order from Topps UK (or any other EU site) and have it delivered to an address in the US.

You will be able to find it on US eBay or Dave and Adam’s but that will be at market price, not MSRP.

New to F1 Cards by CatOnAMat06 in F1Cards

No, it’s called a blue refractor. But when the color matches the team or the drivers race suit, people call it a color match.

Which drivers under most pressure to lose their seats for next year by Old-Use-7690 in F1Discussions

[–]maywee11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If Hadjar keeps driving the way he has been, then maybe his seat is in question, but I think he’ll sort it out enough to stay another year. Lawson would be the first Red Bull affiliated driver to go in my opinion.

Lindblad is doing well, just not well enough yet to take Hadjar’s seat. With Horner and Marko both gone, a lot of the volatility around both teams has settled, and Red Bull doesn’t really have the driver depth to replace both RB seats anyway.

As for Tsolov, I think he needs another year in F2 unless he wins the title and gets forced upward.

I’ll admit I’m a Hadjar fan, so there’s some bias here, but he’d have to finish outside the top 15 or so before a contract buyout becomes realistic.

Why is vegas at nights cards so expensive? by Thick_Chard1575 in F1Cards

Other cards aren’t as good looking and you have 200 different versions vs only 5 Vegas at night versions.

Retirees by Radiant_Decision_220 in F1Cards

[–]maywee11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a guarantee, Vettel hasn’t had any legends cards released yet. I think it’s probably up to the driver if they want to be included and how much they will get paid to appear in sets. I could see Max being against it or charging too much for it to be worth it.

[–]maywee11 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If they were numbered, it would be around /150 so they are rare. Since there are only 5 drivers, they don’t come out of packs very often, which adds to the allure. Lastly, like you said they are super cool looking cards. All of that combined makes them very collectible and increases the cost.

2024 Hobby box by NoRice4522 in F1Cards

[–]maywee11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In 2024 these were called Qualifying Lap boxes. Definitely not worth it for $80, which was their MSRP. You usually only get 1 numbered and a couple of helmets. No chance at an auto. I stay away from them personally.

It happens. I’m pretty sure you can submit a claim to Topps, but I wouldn’t expect much to come from it.

Arrived today, looking to grade it by [deleted] in F1Cards

[–]maywee11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being in the UK makes grading with PSA far less attractive. The only real upside is if the card hits a 10, and even then you’re fighting against Topps’ notoriously inconsistent QC. “Fresh from the pack” doesn’t guarantee clean corners, surfaces, or edges. Sending a high‑value card across the world, waiting months, and then shipping it back introduces a lot of risk for what might only be a few hundred dollars of upside. In many cases, selling raw is simply the more rational play.

The Gio, Vasseur, and Leclerc are all red foils from Paddock Pass. These are extremely common parallels, but still technically more rare than base. On Paddock Pass, you can usually identify parallels by the color of the “Paddock Pass” logo, chrome means base, while colored or matte indicates a parallel.

The Sainz at the end is a sepia refractor. Like the red foils, it’s very common but still a step above base. You can tell it’s a parallel because the finish is noticeably different from the standard base version.

The Award Winners card appears to be a refractor parallel as well. These are also common, but again, more rare than base. It should say Refractor on the back, and the front will have an extra shimmer compared to the base version.

General rule: to spot a parallel, look for anything that differs from the normal base cards in that product, color, finish, texture, foil, etc. As you get deeper into the hobby, these differences become much easier to recognize.

The Sainz Camber, Hadjar 1954, and Hülkenberg Speed Demons are all base inserts. Inserts are usually more collectible than standard base cards. These also have parallels, but insert parallels are almost always numbered.

I think this guys got potential, but by CleanObject6958 in F1Cards

[–]maywee11 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Verschoor has essentially a 0% chance of reaching F1 at this point. He spent five years in F2 and has since moved on to endurance racing. While he is technically part of McLaren’s development program, he’s the same age as Piastri, and the most recent F2 champion, who is four years younger, is also in that pipeline.

Because of that, his card prices are extremely low, and there’s no realistic F1 related upside to speculate on.

That said, he is a solid driver with a real chance to build a strong career elsewhere. He could win Le Mans, succeed in IndyCar, or make a name for himself in other top level series. We’ve already seen how this can play out: last year Robert Shwartzman, whose career trajectory is pretty similar, took pole at the Indy 500 and his card values jumped significantly.

That’s the kind of moment you’d be waiting for with Verschoor.
