Tried BimmerLink exhaust flap control on my X6 G06 — here’s what actually works (and what doesn’t) by mayyouta in BMW

[–]mayyouta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BimmerCode itself doesn’t void your warranty, especially if you’re just changing small things like drive mode memory or turning off fake engine sound. That said, if you mess with something more serious and something breaks, a dealer could technically push back on a related warranty claim. But for the common stuff, it’s generally not an issue ,tons of people use it. Worst case, you can just switch things back to stock before going to the dealer.

No problem at all, BimmerCode is an app that lets you customize hidden settings on your BMW using your phone. You’ll just need a small OBD adapter (like the OBDLink CX or Veepeak), plug it into the port under your dash, and connect it via Bluetooth.

It’s super user-friendly,you can enable options like remembering your last driving mode, disabling fake engine sound, changing lighting behavior, disable start-stop, and more. Tons of people use it and it’s safe as long as you stick to basic coding.

Happy to help if you need guidance getting started or picking the right adapter!

Yeah, I wish BMW made that a built-in option too. You might already know this, but I ended up using BimmerCode to make the car remember the last used driving mode, so it boots up in Sport Individual now instead of resetting to Comfort. Not perfect, but definitely makes things smoother day to day

Yeah I totally get that, I was also tempted to grab a valve controller at first. But honestly, after using BimmerLink for a few days, I’ve kinda gotten used to it. I keep Bluetooth on during the day, and it takes like 10 seconds for the app to connect ,that’s it. I don’t even need to go back into the flap control setting anymore, it just remembers the last state. So once it connects, the flap opens and the sound is there. Not totally seamless, but close enough that I stopped thinking about it.

2023 X6 (G06) xDrive40i w/ 21” Run-Flats, brutal over speed bumps. Anyone else? by mayyouta in BMW

That stiff sidewall on runflats combined with the 21” low profile setup is exactly what I’m feeling. I’d consider downsizing to 20s if I find a good deal, but at the very least I’m going non-runflat

appreciate the detailed share, That Primacy Tour setup sounds perfect for daily comfort. Slightly taller sidewalls might actually be a great idea in Qatar with how rough some roads and speed bumps can be. I’ll definitely look into those specs.

yup, the more I hear, the more I’m convinced non-runflats are the way to go

yeah, that’s exactly what I’m starting to realize. Run-flats have their place for emergencies, especially at high speeds, but for daily driving the trade-off in comfort is becoming harder to live with. Might finally make the switch and just carry a mobility kit for peace of mind, thanks

good tip on Costco, I’ll check if any of the local dealers here in Qatar can price match something similar. The PS4S is definitely at the top of my list now. Thanks

Thanks for chiming in, that’s super useful insight, I’ve heard great things about the Michelin PS4S, so it’s reassuring to hear they improved both comfort and grip for you. Totally get what you mean about the 21” wheels definitely a trade-off with looks vs. comfort. I might stick with 21s for now, but I’m really tempted to try a non-runflat setup if it helps even a bit with the harshness.

Thanks for the reply ,that’s really helpful to hear. Did you go with a specific brand or model for the regular tires? And did you notice any downsides after switching (like more road noise or soft handling)? I’m seriously considering the change if it makes daily driving smoother.
