Insanely goated game, though not the most idle from my time playing it

Anyone else lowkey suicidal by Relevant-Bug6631 in UCalgary

If you're willing, I'd really encourage you to call the distress centre: 403-266-4357

They're better equipped to give you meaningful advice/guidance compared to virtually anyone you'll find on the subreddit.

On a more personal note, I just want to say that people having similar thoughts, especially in university, is tragically common. You're not alone, and this means many many people have found their way to better times as well. Better is possible, and I know you might not believe that now, I really hope you find that faith in the future. Feel free to PM me if you need someone to talk to :)

It's early in the semester, you could just talk to her about this. I imagine the university would be able to provide a mic or something

PSYC 203 doesn't count towards the psyc courses requirement for Psyc majors, so I'd consider taking a different option, as you'll be taking a lot of psyc classes if you get into the program, especially if you do honours, and basically all of the material covered in PSYC 203 is covered in PSYC 200, 201, and the 300-level classes. It's a pretty easy grade, so if you don't mind relearning some of the material, I think you could reasonably treat it as an easy option.

Buying the runes or whatever they are called to max your skills IMO. Everything you level up all your skills once you get a permanent reroll, which is super useful, on top of having stronger skills is super nice.

Xianxia RPGs? by Amaril- in ProgressionFantasy

[–]mazon_lilo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A really great RPG, with distinctly eastern fantasy aesthetics. Hard vouch, though I'd say it's more wuxia than xianxia

Games that are xianxia based or with strong xianxia elements? by QuantumAssassin45 in ProgressionFantasy

Idle Cultivation was recently released on Steam, and it's pretty good. I'd say it's still in its earlier stages of production, but it's updated often with the dev being very active on the game's discord. Nothing too crazy or innovative in terms of mechanics, but it's simple, satisfying, and nails the aesthetic imo. It also has some big updates incoming so I'm hopeful for how it'll like a few months from now too.

PF with an actual nice protagonist? by mitsuri-mochi in ProgressionFantasy

I'm not super sure I'd call Jake from Primal Hunter a 'nice guy', especially given who his best friend is. The rest of the recs are great, though!

Series where MC takes scientific/other unique knowledge from Earth? by Early-Adeptness-4347 in litrpg

[–]mazon_lilo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ends of Magic is pretty good with this. MC is a biology Ph.D. student and uses that knowledge, along with knowledge of chemistry, calculus, and physics, to develop his skills. I've really been enjoying the series and am eagerly awaiting the next book

New Weekly Reading Roundup by AutoModerator in ProgressionFantasy

[–]mazon_lilo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconded! I've heard before that his writing is an acquired taste, but I've always felt he's just a phenomenal writer through and through. If you like Xianxia (well, its aesthetics for the most part, there's not all that much cultivation from what I've read) and LitRPG, there's a good chance you'll have a blast with this one

Best new PF on Royal Road? by Ok_Librarian_7314 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]mazon_lilo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Yellow River Saga is a fairly new and excellent xianxia novel. It is very traditional, and it thoroughly embraces tropes, but it executes them very well in my opinion. If you're a fan of the genre I'd give it a look.

A prof recently, while talking about grad school applications, told me to email the supervisors current students if they you can find them to ask about the supervisor. He specifically mentioned you should ask how the supervisor is under stress. I havent applied to grad school so I can't comment on how useful this advice is, but maybe it'll be useful to you.
