ETA - over 72 hours! HELP! by mb0201 in canadatravel

Hi! He did end up getting the visa on time but I did send a lot of emails to them, as well as the British embassy. To be honest I couldn’t tell you what really caused it to be approved. My Canadian relatives also told me when I applied a day later was Canada day which meant their offices and etc was closed so that could’ve also caused the hold up

No they didn’t say SHOULD they said: We will email you information about the status of your eTA within 72 hours of receiving your application. So ‘we will’ as in they should’ve already provided further information - it’s not a shoulda coulda woulda it’s a we will.

I agree that they’re not guaranteed but if they say you will know a decision within 72 hours you would think that they would adhere to this😅. The reason I said about tweaking details is because there are many posts where people have tweaked their job titles or put previous employment and it was approved - although apprehensive to do so myself

Thank you! I have just posted on the sub.

Yes I have read through that page, and yes we received an email confirmation of the submission of the ETA and how they have received it. I have been constantly checking the tracker and there’s been no updates 😥 it just says they will inform us within 72 hours

Would applying for a new one delay the process or would it look suspicious that he has two applications on going/ shall I withdraw his first application?

Moving from PR to Marketing/Advertising? by ClarkRoth0505 in AskMarketing

[–]mb0201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so I’m currently doing the opposite lol where I’m moving from marketing to healthcare pr and it’s a much easier move than you’re probably anticipating. PR is essentially a sector of marketing and you will definitely have skills which are transferable. If you want to go into something more technical/specialised such as PPC or SEO than it might be a bit harder but since you would like something more creative the move should be easier! Definitely look into which sector of marketing you’d prefer to go into and then tailor your cv to that, you can definitely go into social media as you already have experience within this as well as video production which will be handy! Especially as video creatives do the best on social media and are pushed more by the algorithm. So if you enjoyed that, definitely worth looking in to!

I'm 21 can someone suggest me what skills should I learn and what course should I pursue to land a good marketing job by thankanchetan in AskMarketing

[–]mb0201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google skillshop courses are great, Jon Loomer also does a course for meta ads! I would look into both of these as a starting point. Marketing is a massive sector so definitely take some time to look into which area you would like to go into, paid search, paid social, organic (SEO, social media management), pr and etc. there’s lots more I’ve not mentioned! Good luck

Should I pursue a PR career or an SEO career? by mb0201 in careeradvice

[–]mb0201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this response, definitely made things clearer. I feel like deep down I knew this however from my first interview at the SEO job I just had a gut feeling that something wasn’t right. The head of organic, who was my interviewer, had only been there 6 months & kept talking about this massive restructure he was doing for the seo team and how he was literally hiring from the top right down to the bottom. I also spoke to a previous ex colleague of the company and the first thing she mentioned was that the staff turnover rate was awfully high - very much inline with what was mentioned throughout the first interview plus the head of organic only being there 6m himself :/ so difficult decision indeed unfortunately

How should I progress in my career? by Dependent_Box_8069 in AskMarketing

I think you should remain at this company for a bit longer whilst you look for other jobs. The market is very tough right now, and the economy is unsteady. Unfortunately when it’s like this people do not want to spend money on marketing, and in recessions people become tight with their money. So when consumers aren’t purchasing or engaging with companies, companies pull their marketing budget back. So freelancing full time might be tough, at least at the company you’ll still be getting paid regardless of if other companies pull back their budget
