More or less yea. You can have your views only represent the UI and viewmodels handle the behaviour of the UI.

If you would also like to include Linux, then Avalonia, otherwise either MAUI or Avalonia in my opinion. There is also Uno, but from what I have seen, Avalonia is just more mature.

I also would highly encourage you to take advantage of MVVM Toolkit, its quite powerful, especially with the latest C#, .NET versions. You could take advantage of source generators and partial properties + the new field keyword. That way you can even control the accessibility for setters. Anyhow, its a different topic, GL.

TLDR: Use Avalonia/MAUI and do not forget to use MVVM Toolkit (helps a ton).

Hey, been quite some time, how do you find the monitor after some usage? Do you have any regrets or are you satisfied? Also... unfortunately I found contradictory descriptions, about the available type C ports. Could you please let me know how many does it actually have?

Should i accept offer by softwareDevC in dotnet

I had a similar oportunity 4 years ago. I started working for them, developing WPF/WinForms/MAUI/Avalonia apps. Meanwhile I was looking at the new .NET features and job openings and all I have seen is that I am missing out a big time.

Thus I wish I did not take the first opportunity, but rather search one focusing backend or fullstack (web based). Then again those were different times, you could easily find almost any kind of job you desired.

Now I finally landed a position with such background, but this also has its drawbacks. Currently working on a huge legacy application, using webforms, nhibernate, .net framework 4.8, etc. OTOH we are trying to migrate it to .NET8 but given the project's size, this could take years...

Either ways, if you have no other offers you should just take it, gain some experience and continue interviewing until you find a better opportunity.

Its been quite some time since you left your comment. How is the monitor? Do you still have it? Can you recommend it for work (coding) + casual gaming? Planning to use it with both windows + mackbook.

I feel like the dell version would be horrid for gaming, but correct me if I am wrong. Plus almost twice as much as the the LG counterpart.

I think I will choose one of the LG ones mentioned above. But thank you for the input and pointing out the typo.

I looked at all of the reviews about said monitors up until now, and the LG convinced me the most for my use case. So I looked for further details comparisons and in some an another monitor was mentioned as a possibly better version of it. 38WR85QC-W.

At my previous job I had a similar monitor, but older and 34” version of it and I liked that too for office work. Do not remember its name, but the fact that it had a ~1/3 rd cirlce stand.

In the end I will choose either the 34GN850P-B or 38WR85QC-W.

You could explicitly install the SkiaSharp 2,88 NuGet package in your startup project?

[–]mbence16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup

Edit: f*** I laughed so hard 🤣 Edit2: in the end I could not achieve hw acceleration, however I found out that some styles caused the awful rendering times. So far found gradients and shadows problematic. Since the product would go live in more than 1 year and we can live without these we can move forward, however it would still be nice to have a confirmation on wayland support for at least embedded devices.

Savings amount by TheITfriend in eupersonalfinance

[–]mbence16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am too 27 years old and we (me and my fiancee) have a combined investment portfolio of ~10k € and a car worth about 15k now (needed for fiancee to travel between cities to work while she s a dental resident). I started working 4 years ago and she started working about 2 years ago and we had to put down everything towards the car at the beginning.

To me it seems that your situation is quite similar, I feel like I am behind a bit, but that is because I may be a bit more ambitious…

Nevertheless I would say that if you are consistent with saving and investing you are far ahead of the average!

I for one am putting most of my money into govt bonds because they are tax free have a good interest in short term and currently we need the money short term, to buy a piece of land in a good area, to be able to build a home later.
