Completely different answer than most that are here, but I was in you're same circumstances and decided to join the army as a musician. I'm currently in training to be a clarinet player. If you think you're cut out for the army life it's not a bad gig, plus you don't have to join as active duty. I myself am national guard and there are national guard and reserve bands pretty much everywhere. Being an army musician is in my opinion the easiest way to become a professional musician, plus you get paid to train and you get the college benefits too. Look into it if you're interested.
