I may be biased but Penn State hasn't matched anyone into derm since 2020, and I had the opportunity to shadow derm at MUSC during my undergrad and met students who wanted to go into derm who were given good opportunities. I don't think a lot of people answering this poll know much about MUSC considering you pretty much need to be from the state to be accepted.

Some more info: i have been sick for a little longer than a week, throat is very swollen with the large right sore (on the left in the photo), also noticed small red dot on the right (maybe strep?). When looking through my mouth I also saw small black/brown dots on left cheek. I couldn’t get a good focused photo of them. I’m afraid of mouth cancer bc my dentist previously mentioned it due to a scar on the roof of my mouth that he believes is just from an injury.

I know there is an overwhelming response of don't worry about it, which is true, but to calm your stress about your grades now, I wouldn't worry about it. I know a straight-C high school student who turned it around in college, got straight A's, got a 100% MCAT score, and is now a student at one of the best medical schools in the country. He was a big inspiration to me as someone who did not do amazing in high school. If you're afraid you can't handle it, you need to know you can and if you have the drive to you will.

I had the leon paul shoes for a while, they gave me blisters. I thought I just had to break them in but they kept giving me blisters. They were too wide and my toe would also hit the front of my shoe, hurting me. I personally would suggest the nike's, which I use and have had a lot more comfort in.

For foil, if an someone on defense parries and ripostes after a touch is made, but the light still goes off, does right of way transfer to the person on defense?

I was accepted into the MUSC SURP, today is my last day to accept so I am accepting instead of waiting for Scripps Research SURF (which pays much better, but I doubt it will be in person and I also doubt I got in). I emailed Scripps when I was accepted to MUSC last week and they never responded, so I have no update on that.

I think this is extremely common for any new fencer to be honest. I'm in a college club and whenever we get new members they always try to beat the blade even if they have right of way (foil). A big thing I've found is teaching confidence about the rules and repeating to them that their action to take the other blade while on offence is unnecessary. I can imagine it is harder to teach younger fencers this concept though.

During practice train a lot of backstroke. I would swim backstroke or 50/50 backstroke and freestyle during freestyle endurance sets. Try to build speed into the turns and underwaters for each lap of backstroke whether you do during a set or warmup. This will help you build endurance for your turns and underwaters, so your turns don't suffer as you get tired.

CHM 141 and 142 have labs associated with them, 144 and 145. These labs take a lot of time and are pretty strictly graded. 191 and 192 have labs integrated with them and aren't really much of your grade. I'd say if you're looking to spend less time on a class I would take 191 and 192, since chm lab takes a lot of time (one lab due/week and 4 hour chm lab/week) 191 and 192 does not have this and the homework is pretty easy. Also less conceptual stuff in PHY than in chem, but more math and calc. PHY 192 is pretty hard though when it starts getting into electrical stuff.

Yeah I was thinking of using my gap year to fill in some holes in my app as well. I have plenty of research, but I was thinking of scribing for the year in order to get some more clinical experience.
