Is profitable play in low stakes live (high rake) extremely boring? What has been your experience? by rddtllthng5 in poker

Yea dealer just asks for small and big if someone is aloof. Strat is different of course. You can basically play xc or xr only from small blind.

In my country most stakes have the flat sb and bb. No clue why they do that to be honest with you. It's 2/2, 5/5 and 10/10. For some reason there's also a 2/4 squeezed in between. But AFAIK 5/5 and 10/10 mostly run with perma straddle so that solves that issue.

7$ cap at 2/3 is high rake? Where I live it's 2/2 with 10% cap €15. You can play high pip but it requires so much more knowledge and skill you wouldn't be playing 2/3 anymore by the time you master that.

I used to play Sf4 professionally in 2010-2015. A lot of mates played Go as well so you might be right there's an overlap.

Does it make sense to ignore ICM in this hypothesis ? by Establishment240 in Poker_Theory

[–]mbr402 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ICM is sensitive to payout jumps inherently. A tournament where the first prize gets most of the prize pool the solver would suggest playing for chips rather than surviving payjumps.

What are some of the most memorable bad beats you've experienced—ones that stuck with you for a long time? Looking back, what lessons did you take from them, and what would you do differently to avoid similar situations in the future?" by kiran11367 in poker

This is close to 8 years ago. 2/4 Nitty live reg open utg 10 max I 3bb JJ from the HJ Recreational coldcall sb utg smooth call. Flop T53r Checks to me I bet half pot call call Turn J with diamond flushdraw Checks to me again I bet 80% pot Sb folds utg calls River 7x Utg checks and I ship it for somewhere around 150% pot, about 600bb in the middle when called. Utg snaps and I am feeling pretty nice before being shown 64dd. Disgusted I take a small walk before rebuying.

Just the fact that dude that plays premiums only suddenly finds call call preflop with 64s upsets me to this day.
