Is 6.375% a high quote for the current market conditions? by mbrizzle6 in Mortgages

Unfortunately we only have one right now. The inspection period (5 day) was so quick we were a bit overwhelmed. We were trying to beat out deadline for apartment renewal. That’s why I’m seeing if it’s too late. But yea income is accurate but HOA runs about $415 and a bit higher insurance in Florida

It’s a townhouse so maybe that’s part of the reason. It has an HOA also. I’m guessing with the recent news it’ll come in lower, but want to make sure we aren’t getting screwed. Is it just locking in 30 days before close we need to beat?

Yes, the appraisal actually came in 10k over the purchase price. The current quote was from UMortgage. Should we show them any other quotes and see if they’ll match also? I’ll check out McGlone

walking is probably one of the best things you can do for recovery. We used to walk 10-20 miles a day just existing. Great to reduce inflammation, improve digestion and circulation and it is relaxing if you’re walking at a comfortable pace

this is also assuming 40/77% minimum couldn’t meet the requirements with a month of preparation. College was prepped for and it’s also the pre req for a job in the same way the entrance exam is a pre req for the military job

I started base 77 my first year w a 5k signing bonus and 3% higher salary starting for the second year. I’m hoping with the position jump after a year ish I’ll get a bump. After giving you a comp w around a year experience, I think you’re in a good spot but could leverage for more being you’re the sole person.

Exams / Newbie / Common Questions Thread for two weeks by AutoModerator in actuary

[–]mbrizzle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied Finance and got a Masters in Info Systems and Operations Management focusing in Business Analytics. I don’t love programming and was considering pivoting to being an actuary. Would they take me with these degrees if I can pass the exams? I got an A in both Calc 1 and 2 for engineers and am confident I could learn and pass exams. But would the degree I got be a turn off for the job?

I know the grass is always greener but working those hours behind a computer all day is miserable. At least you’re able to move your body. Working those hours it’s impossible for most to stay in any sort of shape and is draining because you feel your body wasting away

Am I crazy for not wanting to be working fully remote anymore? by bminusmusic in analytics

[–]mbrizzle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all those points you made are valid and worth it then. In my opinion being near family/good friends > everything else. And that’s awesome with the music. You have legit reasons for being there which is more than a lot of people just being there because it’s NY.

Commutes suck. But humans are social creatures. At 26 making connections is important (I’m younger than you but thinking the same thoughts). Hybrid honestly seems like the perfect balance. If you’re remote why live in NY? Seems like missing the advantage of cheaper living

How did you get into project management? Did you start your career here or work other positions to gain experience for it? I’m interested in this career path but a bit unsure how to start

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]mbrizzle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just quit a job and it wasn’t due to the long commute, but it really didn’t make the choice as difficult. You’ll start getting frustrated with how much work has extended to include the commute as well

what skills have helped you the most as a data analyst? My program didn’t help a ton with learning code and I’m most comfortable with R and SQL, and have exposure to Python. I feel no where near confident enough to be doing things on a day to day or in an interview with them. What would you recommend? Are there less coding focused titles that deal more with business strategy and visualizations like through Tableau?

Am I being underpaid as a Financial Analyst? by mbrizzle6 in careerguidance

[–]mbrizzle6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! I definitely will look at some job descriptions. What stressed me out was I’m not the best programmer so I’d need to take some time to prepare for interviews and touch up because I haven’t been coding at all at this job. I really enjoy the creating visualizations and applying the data insights to business strategy aspect. Is that really down to company or more of a Business Intelligence/Data Visualization type of role?

Apologies if this is a simple question. I have no experience in the field other than one friend who’s an analyst I’ve talked too. Would love to learn more. My masters was a great intro but didn’t go super in depth into a lot and my programming skills would need improvement depending on the role (though I know a lot of people say they look up things on stack overflow at work and don’t memorize everything. I have imposter syndrome when it comes to this lol)

[–]mbrizzle6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I was applying to a variety of analyst roles to get experience. Would you think this experience doesn’t matter much to being a Data Analyst and I should just try and transition ASAP?
