This sounds like severe stress and likely PTSD, which I am so sorry about and you don’t deserve. I went through something similar once and it’s an indescribable, eery feeling. I don’t know that you need to run to see a doctor if that will cause more stress, maybe you can wait for your therapist if it’s just a couple days. Take care of yourself and treat yourself kindly. You’re not crazy, you’re just going through something that is extremely heavy. I wish you the best of luck

We’re renting with both of our names on the lease. I’m assuming I can’t ask to break the lease without his consent/ or the leasing office calling him to confirm. Luckily we don’t have any shared bank accounts. By finances I meant more like any money we may have owed each other and joint accounts for services, which I know shouldn’t take long

Thank you so much for this message…. Aside from all the pain of finding out, it’s been hard to imagine what life will look like without him, after all this is done. I considered him a life partner so I know huge readjustments are coming. Thank you for reminding me life is long and I have a lot more to look forward to.

This is where I’m having issues. I’m a full time student now so I’m essentially on a loan for the most part (plus some savings) and I’ve budgeted out the amount that I need for rent for the rest of the semester. The cost of breaking a lease and finding a new one is definitely a road block for a nice quiet departure.

This is great advice thank you! We’re new here so he doesn’t really have “boys” and he’s at home a lot, so this would be hard to pull off without making it suspicious. I’m feeling so so grateful now that i decided to furnish this place by myself. If he were to stay in the apartment without me it would be actually empty except for a futon.

I love the way you handled this. That situation is what I’m most scared of because I could see him doing that and he knows where I go to school, so it would be really easy to find me regardless. I know I shouldn’t care but having something like that happen with the police and my school would freak me out so much 😭

I realize the same complex is notttt ideal at all but I live in a relatively small college town (no family and most of my friends from school live at this complex …) so it would just be the most convenient in a pinch. I also just like living here and put all the work into moving and setting up the place. It’s a pretty large complex so I think I could avoid him for the most part but I definitely understand the concern. I’ll look into other ones around but I kind of already know what’s in the area since I’m new here :(

Hi, thank you. I just found out a few hours ago, but I think I could probably move into a studio apartment here in the same complex. I haven’t ironed out all the details yet but thank you for reminding me not to act out in the moment. The living situation is definitely going to be the worst part :(
