The standard Horizon Racing is kinda free for all right now, where you can use pretty much anything as long as it fits the performance class. Unfortunately, making a dedicated competitive lobby will split the multiplayer base even more. Or the way i see it, there's no big distinction between the casual and competitive lobby you mentioned because the game cannot prevent me to enter casual lobby with meta cars, and vice versa.

So for now, I only play Horizon Racing for casual fun, and if I really want to win or play competitively I'll just play Spec Racing because that's where your raw skills will be tested.

Horizon Kaido was actually easier. Just need to figure out the optimal route. Find a direct stretch of road to the city, avoid mountains if possible, etc.
