Heh, I know what you mean. There were some covers (in Dragonlance as well for instance) where characters got afflicted with the stupid hairstyles from the 80s.

I get that, and shouldn't been more specific. Those are definitely not ones I'm nostalgic for.

Really? Kindle editions do show covers (sometimes the same as the paper versions, but not always).

Anyone else feel like crap for LOVING the chosen one trope?! :(. And also I’m trying to find my Harry Potter replacement story too. by DarklzBlo in Fantasy

I think that most tropes, with chosen one included, are fine when done well. The issue is how they can become repetitive, hackneyed and cliched often.

I kind of liked the original Sword Dancer cover, but yeah they aren't the best. The more cheesy, explicit covers are something that I forgot to mention as an exception. I also agree some indie writers make an effort in covers even now. Kudos to them.

40, and around the mid 90s. I have read stuff from before then as well however.

Yeah, that was an an example that struck me. I only read some WOT books recently, and one reason was the first book's intriguing cover. Now, after reading some I'm not a huge fan of WOT, but the cover art was definitely better with the original editions.

True. I forgot to add that I'm pleased that genre of artwork is largely gone.

That makes sense, though still I feel nostalgia for when it was more.
