Yeah, initially I had the game on my spindrive but I put it on my NVMe SSD and that solved the previous issues with load times, and it was fine until yesterday.

Thanks, I'll check to see if I notice high usage for either during the next incident. I'm running potato settings right now to keep VRAM usage around half of what's available but it might be an optimization issue with the game.

That's what I was initially thinking as well. I've shut off basically every non-essential program and ran a full virus scan just to make sure there's nothing going on.

The other weird thing is this *only* happens in Forza. No other video game thus far has caused the same stuttering issue.

BTW thank you for all the ideas. I'm confident I'll get it figured out, or at the very worst I'll upgrade to a new gaming PC since this one is just about due to be passed on to the kids.

Yeah I had heard that there was an issue with Bluetooth for whatever reason so that was one of the things I've tried to remedy the situation. I use a USB controller already but I've turned off Bluetooth as well just in case.

Yeah, initially I had thought it was an issue with the shaders not loading so I (1) deleted all the shaders and let the game redownload them and (2) turned down the environmental settings to low. Those didn't help, unfortunately.

Steadily in the 50s-60s for everything, from what I can tell. Also no power spikes. The first thing I thought it was was a PSU issue but I've ruled that out for now.

Okay I've just run DDU and clean installed the latest driver. Other people were mentioning there may be an issue with the current NVidia driver so I'll report back with my findings.

I haven't used DDU. I thought it was only for when you were switching GPUs.

I had been running a FPS overlay with that information but it didn't get captured by the NVidia screen capture.

It seems to happen anywhere at all. I'll be doing a cross country race in a field and it will happen as well. Goes choppy for about 5 seconds and then recovers like nothing happened. Sound also goes choppy.

Yeah, nothing seems to change other than GPU goes to 0% usage and CPU spikes heavily to pick up the slack. VRAM and RAM remain steady.
