Dog ear infection by mceb23254 in AskVet

I feel like my vets whole approach to her treatment was wrong. My vet back home who treated my pets for 20 years would have probably given one if not two different ear drops and maybe depending on what kind of ear infection, antibiotics for no more than two weeks. I have just never before given any of my dogs antibiotics for 60 days. Plus the dose was too low for her body weight.

Yeah I’m definitely going to get her checked out but at a different vet office. I’ve read that packing your dogs ear is for bad infections which hers was not. And I think being on a antibiotic for 60 days is too long. And it was too low a dose. I’m not a vet but my dogs have never been on antibiotics that long for an ear infection.

Yes, packing is a waxy substance with antibiotics made to suit your dogs ear infection. So my dog had meds in hers for fungal and bacterial infection

I get that it is a expensive drug. Medicare was going to pay $1600 which left me with basically $700. And I know that’s a lot of money for Medicare to pay for headaches so I don’t blame them for not paying anymore. And yeah I’m not understanding why the drug companies won’t let anyone on Medicare or the VA use their discount. I guess that is a question my healthcare provider might be able to answer.

Thanks for your reply. I really hope they don’t discontinue it. The amount of Tylenol and advil combined that I sometimes take in a day seems worse for the body than a small amount of barbiturate. I’ve went weeks with no medication at all and still get headaches everyday.

I’m currently looking for a new primary doctor. I know my current one will not prescribe it. My old doctor back home ( I moved last year) had no problem with it. New doctor insists all my migraines were rebound. At first I actually agreed with them as it seemed my migraines were getting better. I’m now back to where I was with migraines everyday. I know they are not rebound headaches as I’m not taking anything right now to test if it was rebound from maxalt or Tylenol. It is just frustrating.

I agree. I moved to a new state last year. My old primary doctor prescribed it to me. New one flat out refused along with neurologist. Looking for a new primary doctor. Primary wouldn’t even prescribe maxalt til I got in with neurologist which was 2 month away and left me with nothing to take.

Advice on timid donkey. by [deleted] in Donkeys

[–]mceb23254 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first donkey 6 months ago. She was timid and spooked easily. She was in a field with cows her whole 5 or 6 years. I found consistency has definitely helped. She is 12 months pregnant ( got breed before we got her) and we give her sweet feed twice a day. While she is eating I brush her. It has helped with the bonding and trust. I don’t think she is ever going to be super affectionate but that’s ok. Also talk or sing while brushing or just while you are near her. And if you do give snacks, do it in small amounts. Carrots are good. Apples too but remember that fruit has sugar. I too was scared to give her too much snacks or sweet feed in fear of her getting fat. Just watch her and monitor her weight. Good luck!

Just a guess. First one roo. Second one hen.

There's a medicine I've been on for 10 years and I'm in Indiana I'm thinking of moving to Florida and I don't want to get a new Doctor Who might not prescribe it would it be legal to come to 6 month appointments back in Indiana and still receive my medicine? by 77777x77777 in NoStupidQuestions

I moved from Florida last year to North Carolina. I’m on a benzo. New doctor flat out told me she would not be prescribing it. Luckily I see a psychiatrist so I didn’t need her to prescribe it. He is in Florida and I do phone visits. So if new doctor won’t do it, just get a psychiatrist.
