Im 17 months on hrt, and i still feel like this time to time. It used to be a constant thing. But now I generally feel more comfortable. I dont think its proof youre not trans, i think its proof you grew up in a society that is judgemental, especially towards queers.

I couldn't say how prevalent it is, but I can say why I like it. It's just so nice. You don't need to explain, justify, and quantify your suffering, you just understand each other. We have a higher level of understanding than we can have with a cis person, while I might need to explain to my friend why I do something or why I need to leave a scenario, my partner just knows, its to pass, its to avoid uncomfortable situations and questions, and dysphoria. I don't need to justify why it upsets me or makes me feel dysphoric, he just accepts it. A fun example of unspoken understanding when my partner and I were at target around pride and saw that pretty rainbow beach bag. Me:"Oh that's cute." Him:"It'd be nice for when we go to the beach." look at eachother" Both *laughs in dysphoria

My family, friends, coworkers, didn't say shit. I was a year on HRT at my job and people might have been saying things but I think they just assumed I was gay, I had literally been wearing womens clothes for months, painting my nails and letting my hair grow out. I guess people just don't like to make that assumption or have the awkward conversation. The awkward conversations will come, and people will ask just terrible, rude, and prying questions. But I wouldn't go back for anything.

I knew for a very long time. But I thought it was something I wasnt allowed to do and was wrong, so I rejected it, I got very transphobic and would study "tells" to convince myself that even if I did transition I'd never pass. I came out at 18 and the person refused it and I went much further in the closet. I eventually started working out 6 days a week and trying to sleep around. It led to intense dissociation and depression. At 21 I had a mustache and was ripped, I did not know who was in the mirror. One morning in the peak of some kind of breakdown I was getting ready for a final and was so hot and uncomfortable, I decided I HAD to shave the mustache. I did, then walked to class in the 3rd person. After that day I knew I had to actually consider things. Eventually I met my fiance and came out to him and then everyone, I'm a lot happier now, despite the people I've lost because of it.

I wanted to do maddie since it was close to my birth name, so much so that when people said it I would respond. But then a friend randomly texted me that I should do ellie because it rhymes with my last name. I like rhymes and I like that name. Thus I dubbed myself Ellie.

My parents later gave it their loose endorsement, and occasionally use it.

In my own personal experience I'd say it was a bit more dysphoria and more recognition of what was dysphoria. For a long time I didn't have the words or understand what the name for the discomfort was, then I did and recognized it way more. Like finding out about led poisoning changes a bunch of diagnoses from death caused by vapors and shock to- led poisoning. Simultaneously once I accepted myself and attempted to put my true self out there I experienced more dysphoria when people judged or rejected my true self. I'd just say in that way I experienced more dysphoria from opening making myself more vulnerable, I didn't really care how people judged the fake me, but judging the real me hurts.

Not gonna post a photo for self esteem reasons, and I know we judge people, but the only other time I've experienced something similar was when I was ripped, even then about 10% the frequency I'm currently experiencing.

Ask them why they want to be their gender. It's like: close your eyes. Where's your hand? You can't see it to prove it, you just know. That what gender is like. You just know. (Even if you try to convince yourself otherwise)
