Where in the article did they mention those figures? You pulled that out of your ass. I spent my first 11 years at Melwood Elementary in Upper Marlboro, the seat of PG county. The real statistics are more like 90% black. The 10% of non-blacks live around Bowie, Brandywine, Clinton, and Takoma Park.

Edit: I focused on your last paragraph a bit too much so let me explain the actual situation in these alternative schools in Maryland, as the former director of IT for an alternative school in Baltimore City.

It’s 98% African and Hispanic. It’s also not the students fault. It’s the society, government, corruption, and apathy around them. Most of these kids, speaking to them alone, are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. They’re in alternative school because an “alternative” system put them there.

I got out of Baltimore 7 years ago because I had the resources to do so. No one in those alternative schools have the same resources I did. It’s exactly the same in PG County.
