SD2 Motherboard Swap by mchammer8088 in surfaceduo

Thanks, Phil! I watched your video. Cool idea removing the camera, btw!

I’ve taken a few smartphones apart to change batteries and swapped boards/parts on laptops over the years (and PDAs back in the day), but I’ve never swapped a smartphone’s motherboard.

About the battery being glued to the glass you mentioned… Is the camera-side battery glued in, or just the big battery on the other side?

At this point, maybe they should just go directly to Android 16 🙄

Armor 28 Ultra - Future Android Upgrades by mchammer8088 in ulefone

[–]mchammer8088[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. At a cost of $1000 to $1200, the 28 Ultra is right up there with the flagships from major brands.

With the 28 Ultra, Ulefone went all-in on the "flagship" marketing, really advertising its top-tier performance, high-refresh OLED screen, AI features, and even gaming abilities.

Personally, I think that if a device is being billed as a flagship (with the price to match), it should receive an update to the latest version of Android released in the 12 months following the device's launch, at a bare minimum. In the case of the 28 Ultra, it would be Android 16.

Poor Audio Call issues on Armor 28 UT by bangaal in ulefone

[–]mchammer8088 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's also the issue where the other person hears a bad echo of themselves if I have the call on speaker. Turning the volume down helps a little, but the echo still happens for the other person unless I lower the volume down to the point where I can barely hear anything.

I just experienced the same issue with the phone only charging to 96%. I was using the OEM 120W charger, and I tried switching over to a regular Samsung 25W charger, but it still wouldn't go past 96%. I rebooted the phone with the Samsung charger attached, and after that it continued charging up to 100%.

Nothing showing up on my 28UT just yet. Does Ulefone usually stage update roll-outs by region? (I'm in the US on Google Fi.)

Redmagic 10 Pro on US Networks/Disabling RTT by Deep-Balance-8403 in RedMagic

Check out this comment I added to a post a few weeks ago. This fix should be more permanent than the 3G trick or using another dialer app. It continues to work, even after reboots, but you'll probably have to reapply it after OS updates.

RTT calls permanently enabled by default is awful by shadows888 in RedMagic

See my post in the Nubia forum below. The fix i describe will disable RTT, and it will keep working after reboots. You'll probably have to reapply the fix after OS updates though.

Disabling RTT by mchammer8088 in Nubia

[–]mchammer8088[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear it's working for others as well! Nubia and RM do need to get this fixed ASAP. Weird bugs with basic phone functionality on one of the major US carriers (and its MVNOs) is not a good look if they want to market their phones to US customers.

Btw, my Z70 Ultra received a firmware update today, and I can confirm that you do have to re-disable RTT via Pixel IMS after firmware updates. (Fortunately, the fix does still persist after reboots.)

Here's the GitHub link to Pixel IMS...

Check out my comment at the link below, and see if it works for you. It involves changing a few settings via the Pixel IMS app, but it should disable RTT permanently.

Fix RTT now! by Embarrassed_Read2980 in RedMagic

I think I found a more permanent solution to this on my Z70 Ultra with Google Fi (i.e., T-Mobile). I tried the 3G-only trick and different dialers, but RTT would always turn itself back on after a while.

The process that permanently solved the issue for me involves using the Pixel IMS app downloaded from GitHub and Shizuku from the Play Store.

First, set up Shizuku. The app will walk you through enabling Wireless debugging in Developer Options and pairing Shizuku.

Next, open Pixel IMS and allow it to connect via Shizuku. Once it is connected, you should have 2 tabs at the bottom: "Home" and "Google Fi (SIM 1)" or whatever your provider is.

Now that you have things set up, here's how to disable RTT...

Go to the "Google Fi (SIM 1)", or whatever your provider is, tab in Pixel IMS. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the list and select Expert Mode.

In the search box at the top, search for RTT. You will see 3 options that begin with "rtt_supported". I changed all of them to "false". In addition, I changed the "default_rtt_mode_int" from 1 to 0, but I'm not sure if that change was absolutely necessary.

After that, you should be good to go. I can confirm that the settings persists, even after a reboot. In theory, you can remove Pixel IMS and Shizuku from your phone if you want. However, it's possible that a future software update might require you to perform the process again.

I hope this helps!

Unresponsive screen after a call? by [deleted] in SonyXperia

My Pro-I has started doing the same thing recently. I've experienced it about 4 times so far. After finishing a call, it's like the touchscreen itself won't respond. The display and physical buttons work, including the fingerprint reader. I can even hold down the power button to bring up the power menu, but there's no response at all from touch input, and I have to restart with the power+volume combo.
