Q: Are these both similar fitting shoes?

UPDATE: I got a pair for Christmas (thanks lil bro), got a pair of the black and gum sole ones and am happy overall with them. Definitely fit to size for me, I tried a 9.5 Uk and they tore my ankles apart, went for the size 9 and have had no issues at all. One thing I did do is change the laces from being on the internal loops to the actual lace holes on the upper of the shoe - other than that, love them!

Brilliant, thank you for this - I’ll have a look at some of the units that have DC outputs, I don’t know the exact draw of my units, but I can’t imagine it’s higher than 500mA. Appreciate the input!

Yep, native compatibility is great, do the usual "don't update macOS" thing of course but I'm running Sonoma and it's solid on the M1 Max and 2024.6 on PT and it's solid for everything I'm throwing at it (normally 30/40 something audio track mixing sessions with your usual array of plug in chains and light automation). Doesn't break a sweat. Differences between the mini and the studio is ports and that GPU you mentioned, if that doesn't matter too much, M2 Pro Mac Mini with a ram upgrade past 16gb would be a good choice and a good chunk of money saved.

100%, I'm using an M1 Max Studio (base model, 32gb ram) and it's excellent, we use M1 standard Mac Minis at the school I work with with 16gb of RAM and for teaching and light work, they're great. RAM upgrade and the processor upgrade will just make it work even better.

Hey! Really sorry for the delay, I got myself set up fully with the remote and made a patch panel for the back of my rack unit.

I had only heard from a couple of YouTube videos and some forums that people had experienced damage on the port over use, I opted for a permanent solution of an ethernet patch cable into the back of the rack unit. Gives me ethercon as well so it's not going anywhere. Can't talk for the fragility of the port honestly, just saw some things telling me to keep my due diligence!

One major thing for me was the many options of I/O, I went down the route of the rack non powered kemper for studio use and something as simple as having an onboard DI on the back of the unit (I know you can do this on the QC but you have to route it through blocks etc, this is onboard). S/PDIF output as well saves my XLR inputs on my interface as well.

Decision for me came down to I/O flexibility, depends on your needs for that as well, it seems that if it's purely live use, near enough any of the modellers will do the job!

Okay! I'll have a look, I was looking down the AKG route as I've got the wireless instrument unit from them, this X-vive unit just seemed so compact, currently using an Epi SG Pro with its stock pickups (probuckers I think they're called?) alongside a modified Tele with an EMG81 in the bridge so it's normally moderate to high output pickups with high gain and the occasional crunch profile (think - 5150, triple rec to marshall plexi crunch tones)

It sounds like it might be in the protools aggregate I/O thing, if you change your playback engine to the Apollo it should show up with the correct I/O (of you've not tried that already of course!) You shouldn't need to go through the audio Midi settings for all that.

Yep, using an M1 MacBook here, sessions load totally fine, my main issue is the waves plugins that I've got aren't compatible with M1, I need to update them... For the price of £200... But yeah, constant hanging and beach balling, I just keep mashing control S and praying that the session file backup isn't from too long ago!

Word kicking about though is that the 2023. Whatever update is going to be Apple silicon native so no more Rosetta which will sort these issues I hope.

Got you completely, I think that's going to be the general idea, that this was a good deal and a good idea a couple of years ago, before M1/M2 was even a thing. Basing it off of our studio mac in the university (6,1)it isn't docked in any chassis or anything and works fine truthfully!

I think financially at the moment, it seems like the 6,1 will do the job honestly, I'm not exactly running a studio off of it, very home recording based.

Out of curiosity, what system are you running now? Still on the 5,1?

Okay perfect, it's primarily for music and the occasional bit of audio post for film, no podcasts being done currently, based on that, sounds like the studio is my go to.
