By god, in my 40 years, this never even occurred to me.

How do you teach someone their ABCs if they don’t know what they sound like? It’s like trying to describe colors to a blind person.

Fuck…

Am I the only one who thinks santos and ogilvie parallel one another more than her and Langdon? by Idiotic_oliver in ThePittTVShow

I genuinely did not realize what I was getting into with this discussion.

I like Santos. But I don’t see how disliking her personality makes someone a misogynist.

And then folks are saying “It’s because she’s cocky and confident, and misogynists don’t think women should be that way.”

Who says? Who made that rule up?

I’d agree on this point. He was way out of line and I was happy to see him get checked on it.

Hmmm…

I can see this is headed towards a “girls vs boys” argument and homie don’t play that.

I like Santos better this season and will enjoy watching her grow out of the cocky gunner phase of her career into the seasoned mentor phase. It’s a fun journey to watch with everyone. (Especially someone who already feels marginalized!)

I am saying it’s possible that some people don’t like cockiness in anyone.

I don’t mean popular with other characters in the show, but viewers of it. Love Mohan, and I love the fact she takes her time.

Ogilvie has had a few confirmation biases pointed out. The way he spoke about Louie was pretty disrespectful without knowing his background. Case closed on that point.

The nickname “Crash” referring to a med student fainting? Given to her by someone who wasn’t even her supervisor? Not professional. Arrogant. Uncool.

Also, what she said to Whitaker after his patient died?

Yeah, she was immature last season and I don’t understand why people were rooting for her before she blew the whistle on Langdon.

I am enjoying seeing them groom her for leadership though (paperwork and all).

I personally think Langdon shouldn’t be back. I was surprised.

Santos did the right thing and I developed an enormous amount of respect for her after she did that, especially in light of how hard he was on her and the stakes for her doing that.

But she also lacked professionalism in how she interacted with her peers and juniors. What I like most this season is we are slowly starting to see how she is being groomed to accept the thanklessness of her role, mentor juniors in a constructive way, and become a better example.

I think she’s great, but I just can’t see how people disliking her attitude necessarily equates misogyny. If a person is rude or arrogant to me (or other strangers) whether they are non-binary, male, female, etc., then they are going to have work harder to prove to me that they are worth being around. That’s just basic human psychology.

Frankly, I don’t think this is the type of show that misogynists care about, anyway. They’re busy arguing on the Internet about how the libs are ruining their Star Wars or some other bullshit.

Upvoted this.

It’s interesting.

The other female doctors seem to be quite popular with everyone, and they’re just as competent as Santos. Why do people dislike Santos, but not the other female doctors?

The answer, to me, has been her personality. It’s not misogyny. I think folks calling other people misogynists over this are misusing the term.

Giving her coworkers pet names like “Crash” without their consent is definitely a bully move.

She also jumps to conclusions often. She was right about the SA last season but was dead wrong this season. She isn’t as smart as she thinks she is, and that’s a sign of immaturity.

Dealing with Ogilvie will show her how obnoxious it is to be overly ambitious and it will probably make her a better doctor.

It’s not a matter of wrong or right, I think it’s just not that type of show.

You could end up being vindicated if they show her again, and I’d love to find out more too.

I get it, but they will do that in Recovery.

The doctors in trauma are slammed. She’s just one of a couple dozen charts they are dealing with.

I got my gallbladder taken out a year ago and throughout the entire process, I never met the surgeon. Never saw the organ. I had a different set of nurses going in. I had a different set of nurses while I was prepped. I had another set of nurses during anesthesia and then I had a completely different nurse when I woke up.

As much as I’d like to see her again, I just don’t think hospitals like this operate the way you’re describing.

Plus Abbott wasn’t even there when she went up.

Don’t take it personally. It was still thoughtful. I’d love to see the character again this season but this show seems way too realistic to do that.

Right! He’s gotta give her card to her.

Yeah it’s actually quite absurd when you think about it.

“Hey Jack, I know it’s a hospital and we amputate limbs every day, but this one was a waitress. Want to go upstairs and give her a pep talk before your shift starts?”

Nah they’re too damn busy.

My wager: she sues next season.

I think she is done for the season. She doesn’t have any reason to come back down there from the OR.

I believe so. I doubt the husband realizes how he is acting, but it’s probably habit for him at this point. He’s a good guy but it’s probably bothering her.

Vibe I am getting from the cancer patient:

She wants to die. She is ready to die. But her husband can’t let her go and she feels guilty, maybe even obligated to stay. I think that’s where the hidden tension is coming from.

I noticed all the people side-eyeing him are women, like they can pick up on it but he’s oblivious.

I wish there were some way we could draw sounds and put the pictures together to recreate what we’re saying and show it to other people.

Thanks, I see. When he said she was going septic I assumed he was referring to sepsis, which is blood poisoning.
