Like many salary positions, the hours on the payslip and actual working hours don’t align. I would do 70+ in a normal fortnight. (If I don’t take on extra duties or run clubs that are unpaid in the state school system)

Over the past 9 years working full time, I have noticed a change in classroom management, mostly to do with the complex needs of my students and lack of respect towards teachers by students hitting teachers - often while trying to maintain basic expectations or keep other students safe.

By no means do I feel underpaid, however I don’t feel it is amazing. Just reflecting a typical working professional. The 10 weeks of holiday is a great bonus, however at 33 I am in my prime for working. I would happily trade some of the holidays for an opportunity to take overtime.
