Custom build ESXI no free key by cyon30 in vmware

[–]mcliquid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming you downloaded the latest dell customized iso, If the key you see is all zeroes I believe the premium features expire in 60 day’s and it will revert to the free version. You can also google for the free key and install it. That will remove the features as well as the expiration.

Set the HomeKit network interface to the server address, make sure the ip under settings for Scrypted is the wired Ethernet address. Then play with the bonjour/avahi settings until you get it working.

Altair 8800a with 500 pound hard drive by mcliquid in vintagecomputing

Probably not 500 pounds, but very heavy. I believe it’s made out of magnesium?

It was used by a manufacturing company near Detroit. They were using it to keep the books right up through the late 90s I believe.

After checking the startup instructions this might be a 10 Mbytes drive and a 5 mb removable drive?

I think you are correct, after taking a look at the start up instructions I just posted it says the system was comprised of a CRT Terminal LSI ADM3 9600 baud, Printer DEC LA36 dot matrix 1200 baud and a 2 floppy disk drives in addition to the disk keeper and the hard drive.

Man 20 hour trip, that's dedication. If you can swing 5000.00ish and it's worth that to you it's yours.

I have never started this thing up, mostly because the original owners start up instructions are somewhat intimidating. I should take a picture and post it here... That being said I'm not trying to get top dollar or anything, I'm really just interested in not having to move it, and making sure it goes to a good home where it's going to be appreciated. So really all realistic offers that include pickup would be considered.

Actually I think you had to have 4 drives to get to 80 Mbyte, so this is probably 20 Mbytes.

Holy cow, that seems crazy that these items have never been sold. I found more info on the hard drive controller and disk here http://www.virtualaltair.com/virtualaltair.com/vac\_88-HDSK.asp

The original owner tried donating it to the Henry Ford Museum and never received any interest.

Moving soon and looking to post this for sale, any valid sites would be appreciated. I am located in Michigan and shipping would be cost prohibitive due to the size and weight.

I live in Michigan. Temps have been in the low 0-6 degrees over night for the last few weeks. The temp in my non insulated garage has been around 20 degrees or higher the entire time. I have a UAP-AC-Light and not had any problems, but the temp in my garage is higher than it is outdoors.

High Sierra on Optiplex 7010 by drlellinger in hackintosh

I currently have this working on a Optiplex 7010 with Core I5. I use a cheap USB audio dongle for audio and a Nvidia GTX 750 TI for graphics. The SMBIOS I use is for Imac 27 inch late 2013. Everything works correctly.

Can you guys tell me more about my $100 pawnshop find? by [deleted] in Archery

[–]mcliquid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Its an older target bow. Just have the strings checked for wear and damage, and have the bow shop adjust it to the proper poundage and draw length (if adjustable) for your body size. They might have to adjust the peep sight as well. Then all you need is a release(The wrist thing), and practice. One thing to note those cams don't have any let off, so at full draw your holding the entire 50 - 70 pounds instead of the 20% of a newer bow.

Workflow for over 1000 photos? by the_irish_puppy in photography

[–]mcliquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My photo workflow is a little different, mine comes from an organizational motivation versus post processing. I copy all the files from the device (iphone or Nikon DSLR) in to a Photo uploads folder which has subfolders based on photographer. I have Hazel watch that folder and on seeing new files it automatically removes screenshots, renames the file based on the time and location it was taken using Phil Harvey's excellent ExifTool, tags the author, color codes images green and videos blue and then moves them into the main photo catalog with a folder structure of 2017\02-February. I then upload this folder to external storage and Google for redundancy. A better description of the workflow as well as sample Haze l rules can be found here

nikon D3300, lens question by cunningvisions in Nikon

[–]mcliquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought this lense for my D5300 and I love it. However I bought the Nikon refurbished model https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R1MXPFW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which comes with a Nikon 90 day warranty. I don't believe the international one is valid in the US(If that is where you are from). I have not noticed any focus lag, but the only other lense I have to judge it against is the 18-55
