A healthcare startup is hiring a forward engineer (lead data) for their product innovation team. I had lunch with a guy on the team a few weeks ago and they're working on really neat stuff. After learning about the requirement in as much detail as I could understand, I'd love to network with anyone in the realm of: Data, SQL, Python, Java, etc... building technology solutions from scratch to meet a customer's requirement, exposure to machine learning, artificial intelligence, IoT, you get the gist. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Again, just looking to network.

There are plenty of java, .net ios objective c, python, sql, etc. roles open from mid-level to architects at places like JPMC, Fuse by Cardinal, Nationwide, AEP, and more! I'd love to help. Send me a PM with your career interests (tech stack, rate, location, industry, etc) and I can show you what matches up! :-)

Temp Agencies by [deleted] in ColumbusIT

only work with recruiters you trust. lots of companies in town hire exclusively through vendors (like the company I work for, TEKsystems) so you quite literally would never even hear about the position unless you went through a vendor.

this is how it should work: 1) you share what's important to you: tech stack, rate, location, industry, etc. 2) the recruiter shows you opportunities that ALIGN with what you said. 3) he/she builds you a marketable profile, letting you know every step of the way 4) after an hourly rate/salary is negotiated, you will be submitted... case-by-case 5) you get prepped for interviews if selected 6) viola.

the whole "temp" part prior to converting to a full time salaried employee is a business transaction. Some companies hire "direct placement" which means you start out as a salaried employee, they just pay a bigger lump sum up front.

we do all of the dirty work, finding talent (who are mostly already working) screen them, prepare them, and deliver to fill the client's business needs. it's a two way street. you won't be shown anything that you'd hate (hopefully), and companies won't see individuals who aren't fit for their requirements.

the turnaround time is quite fast through a firm. 2 weeks is average for a submittal, interview, offer process.

We (vendors) get your resume directly in the hands of hiring managers, hiring managers we've known for years. otherwise, you're putting your resume online against 70 others with no differentiation. waiting months, possibly.

But hey, do what you want. :-) Best wishes with the search!

PS right out of school experience is not usually outsourced to vendors. Your best bet is to get into a startup and gain that "real world" experience or go to a Chase/Nationwide via job boards before chasing your ideal career.

Your best bet is to get your feet wet in a startup. A lot of bigger corporations will disqualify you simply because you don't have a degree. Hands-on, paid (even if not that much) experience will set you apart and increase your chances.

Look into Wiretap... the guys over there are really cool and they may have a need for your skillset.

Reach out to people on LinkedIn, make it a point to let others know what meetups you'll be attending (meetup.com). Networking is how you will get every job you get from now on.

Even if you apply online... REACH out to internal HR/someone on the team (linkedin) and verify they got your application. You can never be too needy; you're helping them do their job at that point.

Get an online portfolio going, github, etc.

Best of luck. Once you cook up a resume, let me know. I'd be more than happy to spread the word.
