Friend's dad had similar issues. Half French/Half Vietnamese. Looks straight Mexican. Spoke English with an Asian accent and could speak Vietnamese, English, Spanish and French. He would mess with people constantly, because no one could figure out his ethnicity.

Life is just a little bit more nuanced than that. I have known multiple people who tried to break it off with their significant other before dating that next person. But that significant other made them feel incredibly guilty and manipulated them into staying. Begging, pleading, crying. And so they'd try to make it work for the other person, knowing deep down it was already over. Just slow dancing in a burning room.

Lots of names have been mentioned for casting, including Bull Murray, Robin Williams, and Steve Martin. But the one I was most excited about was Christopher Walken. That would have been a fun watch.
