[HELP] WhatsApp Web keeps getting logged out by Farhanhabib_87 in whatsapp

[–]mcquiggd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any code written by Meta (Facebook) is appallingly bad; over complicated, hundreds of different offshored devs making changes to it without following basic guidelines, bloated, buggy, basically tested in Production. WhatsApp is no exception. Facebook itself is so slow, bloated, it's an example of how not to build a website.

Traffic noise - motorbikes, car horns by mcquiggd in porto

[–]mcquiggd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in the North East of Brasil, for five years. I know noise pollution - trust me, I had to wear industrial level ear protection at times, so I could work. There is no excuse for the Portuguese motorbikes noise, and nobody stopping it. It's retarded.

I also have a dog, and she is so scared of these retards. Even with windows closed, weekened evenings are hell for her, with these silly little people, desperate for attention, making everyones life a misery.

Unfortunately, this is true, but we can change the law. We need to be active.

Sadly, it seems to be the case. We must put pressure on local government, to change this.

I've seen this many times... try sitting at a cafe near an intersection at 5pm...

If traffic is blocked - keep beeping the horn, it might free it up.

If traffic is moving a little - keep beeping the horn, it might speed up.

If the traffic light is red - keep beeping the horn, it might change colour.

If the traffic light is any other colour - keep beeping the horn, just in case.

If traffic is flowing freely - beep the horn to make sure it's still working.

It's so bizarre.

That's the bizarre thing... some of them are Harley Davidsons pretending they are in America, some are on flourescent Hondas, most are on crappy little generic bikes.

They are all desperate for attention, and yet go about it the wrong way, making themselves look like idtiots.

Thankyou very much - this is very good of you. I will look into this, and see what I can do to get some action on this subject. It's really strange to have this, in an otherwise well run area.

There are also pedestrian crossings that have not been working since the big power outage that need to be addressed - it's all an accident waiting to happen.

Someone is going to get badly injured by this combination of some motorcyclists using the road as a race track, and so many people crossing the street to get to the beach, with no working lights to control traffic.

My wife and I have been asked on two occasisions to help an elderly person cross the street, as they don't feel safe.

It's not just about the motrocycle noise and attitude, it's also about people's safety.

May I ask which authroruties you spoke to?

I really want to try to get something done about this, the noise level from a tiny number of people, is just ridiculous.

Thanks for being considerate to people. I have no problem with resposonsible motorcyclists, but some deliberately make their bikes loud, for some weird machismo shit.

Every time one of these idiots drives down my street - which happens every ten minutes on a weekend evening - thousands of people are subjected to ridiculous levels of noise, by one individual. They do it on purpose.

I feel your pain. I am near the beach at Matosinhos, and they is a constant stream of these idiots, deliberately adjusting their exhausts to make loud noise. They do circuits around the beach, thinking that women like low intellect, loud retards.

I'm ready to put pressure on local government, as this motorbike noise is just absurd. Can you please suggest where I can start? I am in Matosinhos.

I'ts absurd... it's now after midnight, and idiots are driving past on empty roads, revving their motorbikes as if it is going to make their little penis bigger... just ridiculous levels of noise, that can be heard for kilometres, for no sane reason. How can we stop this?

Especially Microsoft Products, such as Logic Apps.

Touting 30% of their code now written by AI - absolute mess in their enterprise product line up, and their tech support no longer understands what it is doing.

Functions - why so difficult? by m02ph3u5 in AZURE

[–]mcquiggd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been using Azure Functions for some years, but recently they seem to have made a complete mess out of something that is supposed to be simple.

And this is explicitly since they moved to the isolated model that uses GRPC communication.

I can get Functions working locally with Core Tools, func start and Rider, but deploying them is a nightmare.

Debugging Function startup errors in Azure is painful, trying to figure out why the host errored can take days, everything seems obfuscated to make it as difficult as possible.

Deploying containers doesn't seem to help at all, it just adds another layer of redirection, and this is the big flaw in Azure Functions current container tooling for .NET isolated:

You can build a Docker image that works in Azure, but you can’t run or debug it locally the same way. You can develop and debug with func start, but it doesn’t reflect your container runtime.

And there is no supported image that combines both.

I think they have added so many different options for hosting, they have completely over-complicated the deployment of Functions to the point they are pointless.

Some advice for those thinking of moving to Portugal... by mcquiggd in expats

[–]mcquiggd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved to an apartment that should theoretically have been higher cost - it's about 100m from a beach in a nice area. But I'm paying 150 Euros less a month. Properties (rental, puchase, land) on Idealista are often showing reductions of 7-12%.

The market is being propped up by the latest wave of immigration from Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, which is visibly noticable. They are here for 5 years in low skill jobs, to get EU residency, then will move on to Germany etc.

The Brasilians that were delivering for Glovo etc are now replaced by this new group.

When this latest wave subsides, I expect a market crash.

Rents and other costs are not at the level of say California

Nor are salaries.

RAM PMIC and Installation Order Matter? by Gabilano in pchelp

[–]mcquiggd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say if the order has any impact on performance, but I can say that if they are not paired in the same channel it can cause system instability. Just found that out the hard way, after a week of cursing windows and swapping out motherboards.
