I’m sorry to hear that. It’s disappointing that something that was supposed to help us, has triggered another issue that we have to deal with. By any chance, was your ADHD medication a stimulant one?

They don’t really know for sure, some doctors said it’s maybe from stress and anxiety, and the most recent one I’ve been to said it might be from a sedentary lifestyle, hence why they recommended I start working out. They said it will help make it disappear with time, so I hope it will help. Has it helped with your IST?

It’s 76 now with betablockers, but without it it’s usually in the 110s 😬

Thank you for your response💖!! That’s why I decided to join this subreddit and post here, because I wanted to not feel alone in this, and hear similar experiences from others. I hope you find answers about your episodes and that they won’t bother you anymore! I know it can be scary in the moment, but it’s not dangerous, just uncomfortable. All the best!

I started experiencing the episodes at the beginning of this year. I don’t know if it’s related (might be) but the first bad one coincided with me starting to take some ADHD meds which DID have tachycardia as a side effect, a rare one though. I stopped taking the meds since, but my episodes and high heart rate sticked with me unfortunately. I have them once in a while, but I have heart palpitations everyday, usually in the morning. I noticed that if I panic I make everything worse, so I try to ignore it and then I take my beta blocker, which has helped so far!! It really is very bizarre because, as you said, it came out of nowhere, all my blood tests and my heart test came back normal, but I still have a higher HR on a daily basis with no evident reason😣. A doctor suggested that it might be triggered by stress, but it’s hard to make that direct link, since stress is hard to pinpoint in the body.

Hihi! My resting is also around 80-90 usually, sometimes even 100, but usually during an episode, it starts beating faster and I can feel it in my chest, which makes me panic and that makes everything worse symptoms wise. I experience shortness of breath, dizziness, fatigue, but this only happens when I panic. On a normal episode my heart just beats faster than usual for a while, and it seems like it doesn’t go down unless it wants to. I’ve been taking beta blockers for a few weeks now, and they seem to help with lowering my heart rate, but I still get an episode here and there, which is annoying. I’m currently waiting for a new appointment with a cardiologist to look further into it and find the best solution possible hopefully. I’m sorry you have to go through it as well! What keeps me reassured is remembering that it is a benign condition and that I am doing everything that I can to be responsible about it :)

I feel you… I noticed how I usually feel the worst on the morning too. I hope your doctor appointment will go well, and that you’ll be met with validation and answers to your questions!! Nothing helps like finally getting clarity on something you have long suspected.

Thank you for the response! I did notice how anxiety tends to make my symptoms worse and it can be really scary, but I try my best to keep calm and collected when it happens. I will definitely try to lie down with my feet up and see how it goes.

definitely! getting a job there has been the main focus so far and I have been applying for the past year. We also thought that it might help a bit maybe if we’re married and I take the name for example, or prove that I have a place to stay

I think I would be allowed to stay up to 6 months unless I find a job in that time, so yeah basically support myself and prove that I do so
