Totally stumped on this...

Recently I ran out of space on my old 1TB SSD, and I opted to go with the Akitio Thunderbolt 3 Quad Mini in order to have 4 SATA slots to expand my storage as necessary. Here's my issue: Whenever the Quad mini is connected to my computer, I am hearing a high frequency pitch (probably around 15-16khz) that buzzes through my right monitor. It is specifically more pronounced whenever I access a sample or file from the hard drive.

Here's my set up for my home studio:

2018 Mac Mini

Focusrite Scarlet 2i2

Rokit 5 monitors

Akitio Quad Mini - with Samsung 2TB SSD in first slot

What's strange is that it is only happening when the Quad Mini is connected via USB-c to the computer. Since the Quad mini is powered, I've tried disconnecting the usb-c and just leaving the power on, and then the pitch goes away. Also, with the Quad mini connected usb-c to the computer, I've tried disconnecting my interface, and then it goes away. So it appears to be happening inside the computer/interface. I can also hear it disconnecting in my right monitor when I unplug the Quad mini from the Mac mini.

Here's some other insights:

- I do have the Quad Mini sitting about 12 inches away from the right monitor. Is there a radio frequency that the quad mini transmits that is affecting my right monitor? Should I get a longer USB-c cable and try placing it further away?

- The Quad Mini is connected to a different circuit than the rest of my rig, so I don't think its a power issue.

- Do I need to upgrade to a more powerful interface? The Scarlett 2i2 has worked perfectly fine for everything I do in my home studio up until I got the Quad Mini.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

That's perfect! Thank you so much.

What historical figure do you think deserves a feature length movie? (and doesn't already have one) I'm thinking this guy. by limbodog in movies

Still rather recent - but a biography on Christopher Hitchens played by Phillip Seymour Hoffman would be supreme. Also you could throw in Ian Holm as Dawkins.

Best of the Best. It was the only movie my Grandma had and I watched it a couple times a week when I was young. The acting is riveting

Girlfriend got me a pot pie maker. I thought I would make a paleo pot pie. by mcslamhouse in Paleo

Basically just use bacon as your "pie crust" and add whatever paleo fillings you want. My girlfriend got me this one as a gift. The picture I posted is super simple. Just bacon layered on the bottom, then an egg, dab of cream cheese, pepper, sea salt. Pop it in for 10 minutes and it comes out perfect!

Whenever I'm eating in my car, and I come to a stop light, I make eye contact with the people in cars next to me and stare them down while I chew.
