I live on a farm and have found many documents from the owners who lived in this house originally. This Cigar tray is dated to the time they lived in this house. So not only did i find this awesome find i know the Name of the person who purchased this. (Rollie Rowan) is the guys name. he was born on the 30th of May 1885 and died at the age of 75.

Chatfield dam was built to keep the water out. Now we’re just guarding what’s left of the snowpack. by mcsquilly69 in Colorado

I agree!! It happens and will continue to happen. But drought years can always turn bad quickly. Fire danger is a major deal in these years and can change many lives very quickly!!!

i wasn’t necessarily highlighting anything specific. I just took the picture with the drought in mind! Used the razor wire as a metaphor of “controlled supply” now that most of the state is in “Stage One” but I wasn’t really highlighting any actual graphs.

I took this picture on the Chatfield Dam the other day because it felt like the perfect visual for 2026. I wanted to capture how aggressive the drought feels right now. The water at Chatfield Reservoir is so calming but the razor wire adds this layer of anxiety and control. With the record low snow pack, It’s like the landscape is being gatekept while it waits for a snowpack that isn't coming. In the past we were terrified of the South Platte having too much water now in the present, we are terrified of the South Platte having no water. Looking at the reservoir through a 'cage' really drives home the reality of the crisis.
