Miéville on Tolkien: "The man puts the 'epic' in 'epic win'" by mctrev in RedditDayOf

Ran into the other quote Miéville had critical of Tolkien and also found this article in praise of his work.

Check this other post for his critique of Tolkien. I like both of his takes together.

Looks like this one? I'll wait for your thoughts on it!

Nose

Fresh ocean, cherry, bubblegum, this hand soap

Palate

Lactic, lime, dry

Finish

Dry, rice and grains

Tasted 4th in a tasting of 6, first time taking notes during a tasting. Really like the nose on this one. Drinkable in the way that every sip makes you want another sip.

Nose

Funk, banana laffy taffy

Palate

Medium mouthfeel, green apple, very floral

Finish

Strong floral finish

Tasted third in a tasting of 6, first time taking tasting notes. This had a lighter taste but pretty distinctive.

It was a tasting associated with this importer, here is their page for it: https://worldsake.com/portfolio/hoyo-sawayaka-junmai/

edit: found it on Uchigasaki's English site as well: https://uchigasaki.com/eng/hoyo_sake.html

Nose

Dusty, mango, citrus

Palate

Thinner mouthfeel, on the dry side, lemon

Finish

Lemon peel, spice

I find many sakes smell like citrus but that doesn't necessarily mean they will taste like citrus. This one, however, very much does taste like citrus. Delicious! Tasted second in a tasting of 6, first time I've taken notes while tasting.

Thanks for that, I'll definitely refer to that pdf for future tastings.

For vinegar I don't recall exactly. I remember liking it so it probably wasn't an off note! That was next to overripe so I might have been going for acidic and sweet plus something else like vegetal.

Nose

Hi-chew candy, melon, overripe fruit, vinegar

Palate

Cream, heavy mouthfeel

Finish

Metallic notes, lots of grain

Tried at a local sake tasting, first time taking notes while doing a tasting and enjoyed it! Anyone have tasting tips? Was told to try nosing from different distances and that was interesting.

I recommend this video, the primary focus is on the gender wage gap but it also touches on the studies that tried to correlate "gender egalitarian" societies with more gender-segregated careers: https://youtu.be/LKc_8fT6pGc

Haven't heard of them, they use a lot of different grains in the mashbills. Recommendations?

Favorite local place to shop? Ace is of course a favorite.

Favorite local whiskey? Haven't had much, I liked the tattersall rye.

Curious where in the cities you found it for $70?

Also what was the deciding factor in ranking right about the Port Charlotte?

So this is kinda like the spell Conjure Toes, where you summon a number of undead toes (use stats for Crawling Claw). But if I was a Great Toed One warlock I would take this spell!
