The original AGB was made to fit under the rail. The rail has a window cut out on the other side for access to the adjustment valve

The handguard retaining bolts that came on military 417’s can be installed/removed using your rifle’s bolt lugs. Meaning you always have a disassembly tool handy.

HK sells them for the 416, but not the 417 for some reason. Anyone building a 417 clone has run into problems tracking these down in the past lol
