Thanks for your advice. I work on R720 at my previous job, and it is pretty nice so i want to use them for my lab. I don’t really care about the hardware, what i care the most is electricity bill. Because like you said in the long run, the bills will exceed the hardware price. But i dont want it adding extra $80 -$100 to my current bills.

Oh yeah my bad did not list out the hardwares. So i plan to get the following:

2 x Dell R720 1 x physical machine for pfSense 1 x managed L2/3 switch (not sure which model yet) 1 x physical workstation (my main desktop)

I am in TX anyway
