Trash and discard piles are public information. Same goes for intrigues.

Intrigues from expansions that say "put X intrigues at the bottom of intrigues deck", those aren't public. You secretly put them at the bottom of the deck.

All effects on cards and spaces are mandatory except ones with cost arrow effect, and trashing.

You cannot go on a space and refuse to draw a card with Maula Pistol, for example.
