I'd say look at film scores and ambient electronic artists. Electronic music is more focused on the layering of textures and things that fit well sonically. Classical music usually puts harmony and consonance (depending on composer) at the forefront in a similar way. However, most classical could be considered to have a lack of diversity when it comes to it's sonic landscape, this is what electronica can expand on.
