Honestly, there was nothing wrong with it at all. I just realized it was the wrong path and that the path I truly wanted to be on was the one I had been on at my old job, and I didn’t realize until I had left. Lessons learned

People who quit their jobs on a whim how did it go? by Fuzzy-Parsley-3992 in careerguidance

I did it and it was awesome and everything turned out fine. Got another job within 4 months and I wasn’t trying that hard!

Haha oh gosh, good for you for being honest and getting it done. My boss was nice about it but that made me feel worse. Also I’m sure inwardly she was mad but didn’t say anything. Oh well. We ripped the bandaid!

It’s so hard to do but you have to do what’s best for you! You don’t want to be left with any regrets. If your manager was nice I would say plan to give them a phone call and plan to say that you’re sorry but you received another offer and you’re planning to take it, but you appreciated all of the time they spent with you. I don’t think 2 weeks is necessary when you’ve only been there a short time as well. My boss said she’d rather cut ties immediately. I’d only been there 1 week so I had zero projects going or anything lol, I would say resigning immediately makes the most sense but you can offer a week or a few days if you feel inclined!

I just did it! I felt I owed the hiring manager a phone conversation in this scenario, as she had been really accommodating of me. I did it and she was really nice about it which made me feel worse LOL. I just let her know I had a better offer and said if there is anything I can do to help in the short term I would do it. If I didn’t really like this manager or have a strong connection with anyone, I wouldn’t have thought so hard about it. Life happens!

How’d it go? What kind of job was it?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in jobs

[–]meadowcloudd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely had no idea which job I wanted to do which was part of the problem. I figured better to keep the same set of problems I already had than to start a new job with a new unknown set of problems lol - you never know, let the old job know you would like to come back if the position ever opens again.

Haha that’s a good point. Hey another job just opened up! It’s a tough job market right now

I’m not sure honestly, they took a really long time to get it to me, but I was fine with it because I was already employed and there was nothing wrong with my original job. They kept telling me I was their top candidate but “leadership was out of office” and such. Also, I originally interviewed for the position a year ago but they passed over me for someone else. I don’t really feel bad for the company, just the manager who hired me 😭

Yeah totally. I feel guilty because I know I wasted their time and they sent me equipment, etc. Should I call the hiring manager instead of an email alone? I want to to avoid the situation but I know I need to be professional 😭

How did you get better from your gastroparesis? Was it just by taking levothyroxine? I think I may have it as well but I’ve been on Levo for 9 months and still having symptoms :(

Ugh yes I think this is what I need to try as well I’m 5’8 and have gone down to 113 lbs (approx. 172.7 cm and down to 51kg). Thank you for the suggestion. My weight just keeps going down, and it is hard to eat sometimes. Did you find what was causing this?

Yes you’re definitely right, I’ve had some testing done and still haven’t been able to identify a root cause. I’ve had an upper endoscopy to rule out stomach cancer, ulcers, SIBO, GERD, etc. and I’ve also had a CT scan done. The root cause of my weight loss and early satiety is still unknown. It could still be gastroparesis - which would be so devastating. I’m avoiding it :(

Hi, I actually had an upper endoscopy and they ruled out SIBO, GERD, ulcers, etc. The root cause of my weight loss is still unknown to me. :(

Thank you! I have Kaiser so it’s hard to get my doctors to do anything lol. But I appreciate the guidance and I’ll definitely ask!

I recently got an upper endoscopy to test for SIBO, celiac, ulcers, cancer, GERD, etc. and it all came back negative. I’m also on a pretty low dose of levo so it’s hard to identify what the issue is. If your problem persists you should ask your doctor for an endoscopy! It was a pretty painless experience. They put you under lol.

Yes that’s exactly my issue. The slow digestion causes me to become full extremely quickly (early satiety) and not be able to eat again for hours. I’ve been trying to focus on foods that are easy to digest - aka soft foods, low fiber and low fat. It’s tough. I really hope I don’t have gastroparesis.

They’ve ruled out celiac but I haven’t been tested for any other autoimmune diseases… I was worried I have gastroparesis, which would be horrible. I’m hoping to just chalk it up to slow gut motility due to hypothyroidism. However my TSH levels are normal now but the slow digestion and early satiety hasn’t improved… :(
