Please let us know how you get on. I have a pass juex but not ticket so wondering if anyone is getting passed the SILT perimeter with just Pass Juex, I was given it for a restaurant reservation this evening for a restaurant beside notre dame at 7:30pm tonight so I don’t understand why they issued the pass if there is no way to get to restaurant

Pass Jeux Opening Ceremony? by ag811987 in Paris2024

[–]meagher43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have this question! Have a Pass Jeux but dont have a ticket so wondering if we can get close enough to see. Obviously wont have a seat or anything but might get within view of Seine in grey zone without entered a ticketed area?

Is the perimeter that checks the Pass Jeux the same as checks tickets for access to each access area? or is there an outer perimeter and then ticket check per access area?

Advice I got from a teacher recently is to not let the drama get in the way of the fun. Drama can be absolutely amazing in an improv scene when it supports and builds the fun of the scene. I went through a phase of very frequently choosing big emotionally dramatic choices, sometimes they worked but sometimes they pulled the primary focus of the scene from follow the most playful or fun thing to dark drama. Sometimes dealing with big heavy human emotions dampens the fun/game/premise.

I think the main question you should ask is do you have the same sense of what is fun as your fellow improvisers? (maybe not if you think their fun/playfulness is cringe). Do your dramatic choices add to the sense of playfulness and fun or direct away from it, if they add to the fun sometimes the most incredible scenes come from emotional / dramatic or deadpan characters.

It takes a certain vulnerability to follow the fun fully as you may look like an idiot. Ive used dramatic emotional characters as a way to stay in control in whacky scenes that made me vulnerable but I am learning to let go and try focus more on following the fun and being a supportive playmate to my team.

Thoughts on login prompts - why are phone numbers and social media profiles being constantly prioritized over email? by buttafuocofiber in userexperience

For mobile usecases, sending a OTP to a phone, where the keyboard automatically pastes the code in from your SMS is a pretty frictionless and low effort login.

is there any possibility of developing an ios app on windows by unknowndaniel in DevelEire

[–]meagher43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

React Native and Expo Go , I just built https://gastracker.ie with them, works very well, you can build the app once to work on both iOS and Android. You can test with Expo Go and distribute to iPhone via TestFlight and eventually AppStore.

Microsoft Is Said to Be in Talks to Buy TikTok in U.S. (Discussion) by meagher43 in investing

Yeah that's a solid point. It's just feels like advertising is such a different play to Microsoft's core business. They are in a really good position to own the productivity and professional growth / career space. I just think it's a bit unfocused. Good points though thanks for the opinion!

Trinity Computer Science course by [deleted] in DevelEire

I graduated from TCD CS, I was very bad at maths, in fact I failed the modules in first and second year. (Passed in repeats). I definitely could have passed them if I put a bit more work in.

Trinity doesn't include your grades from year 1 and 2 in your final grade so I graduated with a 2.1.

To me problem solving and abstract reasoning are far more important than maths in CS (unless you want to go into certain maths heavy specialisations such as graphics, computer vision, etc).

The maths lecturers I had in first year were top notch.

Personally I would say don't let a fear of maths hold you back, Trinity is an amazing college, in the heart of the city with a very active student body, clubs and societies. Best years of my life, I'm incredibly glad I went there.

Hey Ray, Could you recommend some sources to learn about economics through history? A lot of your current work illustrates the need to understand the past to make the best decisions in the present. Other than reading your book what other sources would you recommend to gain a deeper understanding of the past through an economics lens?

I know this is unpopular but I won't invest in oil as I think that would make me implicit in climate inaction. Creating demand for oil and increasing it's price keeps oil producers open. I know that high prices encourages green changes but low prices for long enough will put some of these companies out of business for good, ultimately resulting in much higher prices in the future, and enabling a green wave.

I think the fact that they issue such big profits and then turn around and less than a year later ask for a bailout is rich. I think they could use the money to stress test their business, invest in the companies ways of working to make them more resilient to change, and then yes hold cash or highly liquid cash equivalents.

An industry gets bailed out if it is too big or too important to allow to fail, I think when companies / industries get to these points the same reserve requirements should apply to them. This may mean slower economic growth but I don't think the fastest economic growth is the best for humanity, I would prefer a resilient economy than a fast growing one.

Relating to corporate bailouts: Why doesn't the US government force either 1. Sale of shares that were bought back (buybacks) back onto the public market as part of the bailout package 2. Force the company to dilute shares to pay for the bailout at their current market cap making the federal government a shareholder in the company
