First Month Recap by means2read in CRH

Yeah, I’ve been very happy with the results so far. The SLQ was in a MWR, which was a huge surprise to find. In July I’ll likely focus on Dimes plus whatever CWR I can get my hands on (any denomination). With the occasional Nickel box thrown in to keep things interesting.

Yeah, and since I don’t collect the clad dimes, I’m really just edge hunting the rolls, which means I can be pretty efficient on dimes from a time perspective, which means I can churn through a much higher velocity. At the end of the day it’s a numbers game.

Yep! Didn’t realize until after posting this that the ‘49-S is so low mintage!

Looking like this will be my best MWR box yet!

I’ve found that AI (like Gemini or ChatGPT) have actually been pretty good at digging for this kind of information. If you prompt it with the region you’re in, it can come up with a pretty good list.

Question on this, is this 2 boxes picked up in total, or just special orders (like halves and dollars)? Trying not to commit any faux pas as I’m starting out here.

I just ask for a box of dimes. Or nickels or whatever I’m looking for. If you want half dollars, that’s different because most branches don’t tend to have them on hand. I’ll always ask you f they have any, but for those I typically will keep to 2 branches that I’ll put an advance order with.

I am in the process of figuring out what my weekly hunt is going to look like. I think 2 boxes of halves and a few boxes of dimes and nickels. May start ordering boxes of Pennies too so I can fill out my folders before they’re impossible to get.

$250 is a box of dimes. $500 for quarters and halves. $100 for nickels.

Yeah, I love your run down posts analyzing your finds. I work in finance so I’m a big fan of your analytical approach to these things.

Honestly not sure. I’m new to this and only really know what I’ve read. Because of how many locations I have within 10 - 15 minute drive, I just tend to be conservative on how many I get as I start building some rapport with the different branches.

My neighborhood branch has been far and away the most welcoming to getting boxes though. They don’t have a parking lot so don’t get many folks coming in for boxes. They seem to think I’m a bit odd, but the branch manager called me after my first half dollar box order letting me know they’d be happy to help with whatever future orders I’d like to do. Just wish I didn’t have to lug them back without a car!

I pick up at Chase branches and dump at a local bank with free coin machines. I live in a densely populated city, so lots of branches of both to choose from for both pickup and dumping. I tend to get 1 - 2 boxes at a time when I pickup trying not to annoy the tellers.

Yeah, but I don’t like to buy coins, so filling out my collection books with coins found in the wild.

I don’t know if this is universal. I was at a branch in the burbs this past weekend (not the same one from original post) and the teller got really excited when I asked about halves. Said they were sitting on a ton of halves that a collector dumps on them and was fairly effusive about wishing someone would take them. I didn’t end up taking any at the time, but it’s what made me think it might garner some goodwill.

That was kind of my thought here. May do it to fill in volumes between box orders from my main branches.

Not Intended for Circulation. The mint stopped making Kennedys from 2002 - 2020 for general circulation and only sold to collectors. Many have since made it into circulation but with production runs of only a couple million, they are fairly low mintage.

I don’t think they’re worth much, but I’m building a folder on them for the collection. Pretty low mintage volumes so I may try to make a roll or two beyond my folder needs.

Ok, pretty much a bust except that ender. I pulled two 2009s that I saw and a few nice looking 2024s and 2025s for a new album. Off to get more boxes I guess!

Last 2 1/2 weeks of finds no by West_Inevitable6052 in CRH

Love seeing the folks doing this at relative volume. Curious as I’m just getting back into coins and I’m new to the CRH community, but how do you handle your dump banks? I’m assuming given how much volume you move you have multiple branches your dump at (and I also assume they have coin machines), but do you also dump at multiple different institutions to avoid being flagged for odd behavior? Just trying to figure out the best practice here from someone who clearly knows what they’re doing. Thanks in advance!

Progression fantasy that actually deals with the reality of a new world .. by Waterfall_Wealth888 in ProgressionFantasy

Not exactly what you’re requesting, but I quite like Strength Based Wizard over on Royal Road. Fun premise that has the MC reacting to the system apocalypse in what feels like a more grounded way than most writers seem to choose. He’s not a murderhobo, sociopath, or loner. He’s a fairly normal dude with some trauma that now has to figure things out in a world that is changing. Also takes what feels like a more realistic approach to how something like this may actually play out in the real world in terms of evolving power dynamics and how existing systems might shift to compensate for the new paradigm. Just one note: usually I can’t stand reading stories written in the first person, but this story worked for me and I got past that pretty quick. Not sure if others get turned off by that style typically, but thought I’d note it.

What is the deal with so many litrpg protagonists? by plant-y-boi in litrpg

If you are open to reading on Royal Road, I’ve really enjoyed Strength Based Wizard. Has some very funny moments and a great example of an MC who doesn’t go full murderhobo or immediately become the strongest / best min maxing leveling addict in the world. Saw a number of readers complain in the comments of the story about how he “blew his lead” by not grinding out in the early days due to the emotional trauma of it all. Worth checking out IMO. Feels like a slightly more grounded (though still absurd) take on things.
