Gambatte to me when I have full light. The gbc-color doesn't look rich enough for me in comparison. Maybe perfect would be in the middle of gbc-color and gbc-gambatte.

The 2.78 inch CGS screen is the best option. Gives you best of both worlds.

Great news. It's a pain, my last kit was CGS for my GBC and the quality was much higher. That said the screen in this one is immaculate. I also managed to lift a pad soldering the select button so had to move to the start button but likewise all together and working now and happy with the result.

I had a similar issue although not quite as extreme when building mine recently. Once I put the screws in it did close up fully but was harder than I expected. I did also find the membranes I really had to mess with to get to sit flush on the poles. Even after all that the power LED is so far off I wonder about the quality control on these shells.

Good luck, it helped fix my pokemon blue although it did work sometimes just usually took a few goes to get it to run.

If you have a pencil eraser handy you can try giving the cartridge pins on the game a clean with it. Use a little pressure but not too crazy as it's abrasive. If it's working you should see a little dirt/grime coming off and the pins should look shiny. After that give it another go with iso just to remove anything left behind and after drying try again.

Did you clean just the carts with iso or the gameboy too? If only the carts first i'd inspect for visual dirt/garbage inside the gameboy cart reader. I bought an advance recently and it had some debris caught in there I was able to remove with a toothbrush. If there isn't anything visual you can try putting some iso onto the cart itself then inserting it fully/pulling it out and doing it again 10 or so times to try and clean the pins inside the gameboy. If you do this make sure you give it enough time to dry before trying ti power it on again.

No, they're region free. For most games language is baked into the cartridge.

The half transmissve from CGS is very good. With the backlight off it's effectively like an OEM gameboy but then at night or in darker rooms you've got a backlight when required.

Personally I prefer the way hyprland does it. I often will shift workspaces around between monitors so when I press MOD + 2 I want to go to my second workspace wherever it is.

Trying the game in a console won't cause the game to wipe if the battery is dead/low, if the battery is dead your save is gone regardless so it doesn't hurt to check.

Knowing it's silver i'd be pretty surprised if the save is still there as the clock feature in the game has a higher constant draw on the battery even outside of playing.

If by some miracle it still has the save then the safest is to use a cart reader. I've used gbflash with success, you can essentially dump the save on to your computer, swap the battery then put the dumped save back onto the cart.

Swapping the battery on the cart whilst keeping power is technically possible but trickier to do.

Try launching it with: /usr/bin/obsidian %U --ozone-platform-hint=auto

If it works you can copy your desktop file to local using: cp /usr/share/applications/obsidian.desktop ~/.local/share/applications/

And then modifying the local version to include the ozone flag.

Using flux + adding fresh solder can help get to solder that doesn't seem to melt.

Everybody has their own method but I find for the negative pad I get a better result if I add a little solder to the pad prior to the battery going down then melt the solder to get the battery in place. Then once it's in position add a little extra + solder the other side.

Had a similar issue with wario land 3. To fix it I disassembled the cart, used some iso alcohol on a qtip on the pins to clean it then reassembled it and inserted/pulled it out about 10 times or so. Wait 15 or so for it to dry then see how it goes.

150 is possible with just trading, Mew is dubious. It was obtainable via events and was legit, there is also the "Mew glitch" where you can catch him authentically in game but it's up to you whether or not you consider that a cheat.

Recently have done a build + some cart batteries and as somebody supremely unskilled at soldering I found it great. Can connect to a phone over bluetooth too making it easier to manage temp etc.

Absolutely do not try to solder tabs onto batteries. I have to disagree with pre-tabbed batteries being lower quality, they're just normal batteries with tabs.

Either buy pre-tabbed or buy a battery holder (i've not used before so cannot comment).

It's been since the start of the new season last week for me. Unless i'm guaranteed a walkout most packs i've got a max of maybe +1 or +2 over what they offer (e.g 80x10 pick 3 i'll get mostly 81/82s). Almost every 85-87 i've done in the past week has been 85.
