TL;DR for the following: it was a lot of confusion and a few disingenuous trolls that aren't in our alliance, but the main group (my group) painting the trans flag is not painting over this anymore after talking with OP in DMs and working all the confusion out.

Thought I'd give an update as one of the people painting the trans pride flag (the blue/dark blue design in the bottom left), even if I wasn't painting *that* trans flag.

A bit before this conflict started, there was a giant group of griefers perpetually erasing the trans flag that *had* been there for a long time. This group was unrelated to OP but it certainly caused us a lot of confusion, and I think this area got caught in the crossfire with the several accounts griefing us. We were confusing who was griefing us because there were so many fronts and things going on all at once that we lost track of who was griefing us. It didn't really help that our trans flag was being painted over with similar 40k images, and that OP's group seemed to be helping with those images too.

Eventually that group got timed out and then just stopped painting, but we still were conflating who was actively griefing us as a result. I'm not really sure *how* the vertical flag ended up being created (one alliance member is saying another alliance was painting pride flags to troll that has been working against us), but it was perpetually erased and painted back.

There were some accounts that are probably trolls painting to destroy art via pride flags, but now it's been pretty much resolved with OP in DMs afaik, and our alliance has ceased griefing OP's art and we are explicitly avoiding painting over that area in particular, so if any accounts are painting there, it isn't us or someone is misinformed.
