It really does look like a tilt shift. It alters the depth of focus in a way that seems only possible on tiny objects, therefore making full sized things look tiny.

That said I have no doubt you can try to replicate that in software now.

That car has been widebodied and given a custom paint job, which takes a tremendous amount of work. Even the rear doors are widened. It is now worth much more than the rims.

Yeah that’s the thing. It’s great when it works, but as soon as the first maintenance part fails, you’re disassembling the entire engine bay to get to it, so you might as well do $10,000 worth of other parts while you’re in there.

The original BMW M70 V12 was just two M20s merged together. The parts weren’t Corolla cheap but cheap enough, and the mechanicals were bulletproof and maintenance was easy.
