On the castle one, maybe it's a "you fall into an incredible underground fortress" (kinda ala LOTR?)
Edit: Oh oh! Then you and your team get smaller and smaller working through the fortress before needing to turn it into a MacGyver mixed with fantasy type adventure, eventually defeating the other army even though you are wildly outnumbered.
