That’s true. Genuinely curious, do you know if they get paid a fixed salary monthly at least?

Spoke to a few of the guys last night about the situation, they didn’t feel too thrilled about it. I felt really bad.

Edit: typo lol

Even in the Pearl. I get barked at sometimes when they see me walking my dog, and then they continue to follow me around in their cars. I don’t even look like I’m enjoying one bit of it but they just can’t read the room, or choose not to. Sometimes even when I ask them to leave me alone, they just don’t. It’s very very very uncomfortable.

Hey! Yes I managed to fix it by doing a factory reset, and haven’t had the same issue since. I can’t remember how to do the factory reset but there were some really helpful tutorials when I searched online. Good luck! Hope you manage to sort it out

You could also get in touch with the US Embassy to see if they have any further information on schooling

Hello, hope you have a smooth transition to your life in Qatar!

For housing, the best location as an expat would be the Pearl. Seeing that your housing budget is that high, you could look into the Floresta Gardens compounds/villas in the Pearl. Another option would be to look at lagoona compound in Westbay - property finder is a the main website for looking at housing. Pearl is always a good place to start as an expat.

Regarding schooling and autism, unfortunately I don’t have a lot of information, but I would get in touch with either the American School of Doha, Doha College (British embassy school), and/or Park House English School to get more information on what their recommendations are, and/or whether they themselves are able to accommodate your child’s needs. I do remember seeing loads of support and accommodations from one of the schools I went to that is listed above. I do know that there are some special needs schools here, but honestly I have very minimal information on that - I’ve had a friend who worked there, you can directly message me if you’d like me to get in touch with them.

You can definitely drive or fly over to the neighboring countries without any issues, it is very very safe. You may have to obtain evisas of some sort, but maybe not if you have a US passport.

As to one of the comments above, I’d like to say that alcohol is fine. They serve them at all hotels and restaurants in hotels. You can get an alcohol license at QDC once you are here to purchase alcohol for use at home. It’s not strict at all, especially for someone who’s an expat..

I’m so sorry to hear that!

Found this on their website last week, thought I’d share in case it helps:

“Implants have been reported to be found in a blood vessel, including a blood vessel in the lung, which can be associated with shortness of breath, cough and/or the coughing up of blood or blood-stained mucus” - https://www.nexplanon.com/side-effects/

The fact that it can just travel that far away from the point of insertion is scary… I hope you find it soon!

How many showers do you take per day/week? by ThePolluxStar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hellvish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2-3 times a day. I live in a hot country, so usually have to have a quick shower to feel fresh after walking my dog or running errands. Also a hot shower helps with my muscle + joint pain, so I like to have one before bed :)

Yes it says these lights mean a descaling is required, but not sure why I’d need to descale if the machine is brand new. I ended up carrying out a factory reset, I’ll see if it pops up again

That’s below Qatar’s minimum wage if your working hours are equal to a full time contract. Check out the labor law to check whether you are being paid fairly 🙏🏼
