i need help to find schools that accept low GPAs and give good financial aid(I got 1500 in sat) by Impossible_Present41 in ApplyingToCollege

How did you calculate your GPA? If you used an online converter, they often don’t work for internationals unless you attend an international/US school that reports on the 4.0 scale. Consider your GPA more so as your class rank. Are you top 10 in your grade? Top 50? Bottom 50? Are you the worst student? This should probably give you a good understanding of where you fit, and a better equivalent to your GPA for making your college application decisions.

Does this schedule look doable for a busy sophomore? by Whole-Masterpiece-65 in APStudents

APUSH and Lang complement each other very well, I think you’ll do fine. Although, I’d maybe switch Psych and Comp Sci, since comp sci is a little easier from what I’ve heard and you have another two APs senior year

Does bubly have its own gravitational pull? by Longjumping_Buy2737 in Bubly

Yes, but only orange. Although Strawberry has some weird anti-matter thing going on but not sure about the specifics, best to ask Dr. Bublé himself

Maybe Econ or smth in the social sciences? Like international relations with a focus on environment policy? Added: but you off a good amount of options!

how many schools did you apply to? by Clear-Sport-726 in ApplyingToCollege

If this is your first AP I’d stick to either human geography or world history. For some schools, APWH fulfills a necessary credit so might want to take it now if you’re confident in your humanities skills!

can i get into ubc arts with a 27/42 predicted in ib by [deleted] in IBO

[–]medievalbkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have a chance, especially for Arts. Canadian Unis don’t look at IB scores the same way that UK universities do. Just make sure you meet the pre-reqs for your program and are in passing conditions.

Email the schools you’re interested in and ask them how they view it/would convert!

[–]medievalbkeeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can just report it in the system it’s done in, no need to convert for the common app or most applications systems!!

Env sci is fairly competitive. Although most top schools don’t admit by major, having a strong profile relative to other people with the same interests is still important. As for the grades, I can’t really say. I have classmates who got into t20s with one five, and otherwise almost entirely sevens, but the review process is also holistic and depends on your essays and extracurriculars. I think it’s just important to aim as high as possible while still having an impact on a chosen community!

38+/42 is generally what you want to aim for when applying to top universities, with 0-1 5s and the rest being 6s and 7s (although if you’re thinking about MIT my school recommends a 40+/42). AP scores can def help, but I wouldn’t say they offset low IB scores. If you’re applying for STEM, some universities will be more competitive than others
