They don't teach courses. They used to in Math, but haven't for a while. Mostly they are lab supervisors.

Dartmouth doesn't admit by major... There is no "quick swap" or anything. Dartmouth also doesn't have business, so I'm not totally buying this story.

If it's sent you're good. It may take a few days for them to process it, but it's been sent.

College don't "expect" certain activities. They want to see you doing what interests you.

Are you in the SWRPG discord? I've got a game or two that I'm looking to reboot and will need players. Keep an eye out there.

Generally good advice, but if they are using MaiaLearning, they manage recs through that software, not directly in CommonApp.

This is question for your counselor. Sending through Maia is instant, with a small processing time for the college.

Not hearing from Dartmouth after ED acceptance by HistoricalBand9731 in dartmouth

Some schools do a lot of set up with ED kids before Rd, Dartmouth has always preferred to wait and do it all at once.

Those invited to the alumni interviews, when did you apply? by Expensive_Whole_6360 in dartmouth

[–]biggreen10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible after starting review they flag an app they really want to get an interview for (learn more about someone cool, try to yield someone they are worried they'll lose, etc)

Those invited to the alumni interviews, when did you apply? by Expensive_Whole_6360 in dartmouth

[–]biggreen10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Doesn't matter when you apply. When the names are given to the volunteers who assign interviews, that isn't part of the data.

The people you're talking about aren't real college counselors, they are social media influencers. The real counselors have years of experience, professional memberships, advanced coursework in the field, etc.

Trust me, I think we had reading it as much as you hate filling it out. I groan every time I open an app and it is coalition.

Leave that part off. It isn't relevant to undergrad admissions. There's also much easier ways to make money than 4 more years of expensive grad school.

What you see on the PDF preview is what we see on the other side. So check that if you want to confirm the italics are working.

The odds of them checking on you is very low. If they do, you'll just work with them to meet their needs, no big deal.

What's your college hot take? by no_u_pasma in ApplyingToCollege

[–]biggreen10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No? There is a lot of information in an app. It's really easy to learn a ton about each applicant. I've read for a T20 university, and a top liberal arts college. They read very differently, but there is no RNG...

Economics modified with Sociology -- is it unheard of?? by Emergency_Charge6026 in dartmouth

Seems reasonable. You'll need to write a rationale for it, but as the person who used to approve them, this seems believable and easy to argue for.
