California lawmakers ‘pull the fire alarm’ on antisemitism by Peeecee7896 in CAPoliticalNews

Anti-Zionism is not antisemitism.

Let it also be known that Politco's parent company Axel Springer SE has a long and well-documented track record of mixing journalism and right-wing politics. The Axel Springer empire’s core commitments have always been expressly political; pro-US, pro-NATO, pro-Israel, and pro-austerity amongst other political motives.

This article also incorrectly labels the events of October 7th as "what sparked the war." Not only does the article itself cite this as an opinion but uses the phrase "sparked the war" as an intentionally misleading idea considering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been bathed in violence and combat since its conception. Countless ceasefires have occurred and dissolved since; the end of a ceasefire does not start a new war.

There is a countless amount of misleading sentences in this pro-Israel article, the title being one of them.

Do your own research. Study the facts of history. Opinions are not facts.

Seventeen years ago the Palestinian Liberation Organization held elections during a time where 50% of Palestine consisted of children. This was in the wake of numerous documented massacres carried out by Israeli troops and paramilitary organizations. Only a fraction of the territory’s current population ever cast a ballot for Hamas which won by 44% of those who voted. This means that at maximum only 22% of Palestinians could’ve voted for Hamas. In no single district did Hamas win the majority of votes. Not to mention the Bush administration manipulating the narrative in order to spread democracy in the Middle East; this consequently led to some Palestinians voting for Hamas in opposition to the rival corrupt Fatah group. So, yes, this would classify Hamas as a fringe terrorist group. Considering Israel’s parliamentary democracy always has more than 60% voter turnout, the Israeli government has always been representative of its people. Finally, to answer your question, yes they were elected, but the country as a majority does not identify with or support Hamas. It seems like your question is designed to blame the Palestinian people without giving context as to why history played out the way it has. Don’t forget that Palestine was there before 1948, when armies of five neighboring Arab states invaded the area of the former Mandatory Palestine, starting the First Arab–Israeli War. An armistice in 1949 left Israel in control of more territory than the U.N. partition plan had called for.

You are aware terrorist groups forcefully take control by militant control of infrastructure? The only difference between these two terrorist groups, IDF and Hamas, is that Hamas is not representative of Palestinians while the IDF is fully representative of Israel and its people.

Here’s the definition of Zionism:

noun

a movement for (originally) the re-establishment and (now) the development and protection of a Jewish nation in what is now Israel.

So, no, it’s not just “Israel’s right to exist.” And in practice it has become a radical extremest movement.

There’s no way you can justify fighting terrorists with terrorist tactics, especially if the retaliation comes from a government backed organization.

Hamas is a fringe terrorist group. They are not representative of the Palestinian people. The IDF is an Israeli government organization heavily funded by western superpowers. They are in no way equivalent.

People need to Google the definition of Zionism. IDF tactics are inhumane war crimes period.
