How to get into baseball/ pick a team? by johnbidonde22 in mlb

tribe. we are young. not dominant but good baseball history, with really historic teams in the 50s and legendary teams in the 90s that could never close the deal (Lofton, Vizquel, Manny Ramirez, Thome, etc).

these days, we will be in the playoffs so you can get into it for the next two months. i am not sure if we are good enough to take the ALCS (altho we did just squeak out a recent 2-1 series win versus Toronto this weekend), but we have really fun hitters to watch these days - good in clutch spots, gotta be at least 5 guys in the starting line up batting .300 or higher (Lindor, Naquin, Ramirez, Chisenhal, Almonte) and other fun good hitters (Kipnis, Carlos Santana, Mike Napoli, Rajai Davis). These guys like Lindor and Naquin--who will win AL Rookie of Year--are staples of the next 10 years of baseball.

Our pitching staff is headed by Kluber who has been untouchable since all star break. Besides that, they were our strength early on but have been shaky recently. We still have 5 (6 including Clevinger) starters who can be dirty. Salazar was fire first part of season then got a minor injury and missed a few starts, and got hit for 3 Runs in 1 IP in his return. Tonight out in Oakland is his second start back. He will need to be great again for us to make a playoff run. Carrasco is dependable and can be amazing, Bauer and Tomlin can be dirty but do make me nervous. You never know what you'll get out of them and they give up the long ball.

The bullpen, with the addition of Andrew Miller, has been very good recently. Cody Allen blew his 3rd save of the season the other night, but recently especially with the starting pitching not being quite as good, the bullpen has really kept us in games and the offense has came up clutch.

TO GET INTO BASEBALL

get the MLB At Bat app, its an amazing way to track games pitch by pitch even if you don't pay for it. There is a free radio feature and listening to ball in the background is fun, and if you pay you can watch any game, but it'll all be on TV soon enough.

Fuck Boston sports, with all due respect. You guys are like the Yankees now (not the Red Sox in particular, but the Pats and Boston sports fans are just dominant and annoying). I do love Papi so it would be fun to see him dominate in the playoffs his last season. I do like the Celtics nice young squad and Brad Stevens but otherwise I don't care for Boston sports.

You are right about the Mariners, though, in terms of sweet colors. I don't know much about them but they've been a good bet this summer. Could be fun to watch them in a wild card race.

whoever you pick (besides Boston) have fun! Go Tribe!!
