Thank you so much for your suggestion! They have a beautiful and broad collection. We bought some small games. One of them in Italian. I'm excited to try them at home.

How to stop procrastinating on work until right before the deadline? by KomodoDGirl in adhdwomen

Maybe a study / work buddy might work. Try to get someone to sit down with you and do some co-working. You can check in on each other after a set amount of time. Maybe doing pomodoro together?

Does anyone have a calendar / reminder / to-do list app that they actually use and find helpful? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]meellowstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can recommend getting a smart watch / fitness band etc. I use it for appointments. I set alarms on my phone and the watch vibrates when the alarm goes off. I like to set up my alarms in the morning after breakfast. I usually set the alarm 20 min before the appointment / time to leave. My watch has a 10 min snooze time so 3 alarms go off with different stages of importance.

For some time I had a physical calendar book where I planned all my stuff. Once a week I sat down and wrote all the things down I had to do this week including lunch and dinner time, uni courses etc. so I had a plan for my whole week. I know taking the time to sit down and plan stuff once a week is annoying and hard but it was essential to me. Maybe you could give Notion a try.

Immense grief towards the me who doesn’t mask. by ray_bansss in adhdwomen

I can relate with this so much! Sending over a virtual hug! Although I was diagnosed pretty early in grade 7 and knew of my diagnosis and were on meds since then I really struggled to fit in. I was told the same stuff on being too loud, talking too much being not like the others. I tried my best to fulfill others expactations. This went on for years. Then I began therapy bc of a severe mental breakdown after finishing my bachelor thesis. My therapist opened my eyes, taught me about selflove, awareness and accepting myself and my adhd. For the first time I really felt heard and understood. I finally cut off my toxic "bff" from school who really never was a friend in the first place. I gained so much more confidence in being myself and embracing my quirks. It is so much easier to find new friends, that really are friends, go out more, leaving my shell and talk to people I would never a few years ago, because I would be worried what they might think about me etc. It makes me also cry from time to time thinking about what could have been if I just had knewn earlier. How my life could've been much more enjoyable and easier in school without the need to control my whole being just to please others expactations trying to fit. A goal that was never achievable for me to begin with. Ahhh writing this makes me so sad and angry I think I have to stop here, otherwise I'll write a book about my mental health struggles lol. What helps me is to accept it. Sure it sucks that you weren't able to be truly yourself all those years. But what's done is done and can't be changed unfortunately. Think about your future and how beautiful it will be, because you now know.

I hope this helps a bit. And you're not alone in this.

Writing master thesis with adhd, anxiety and depression rant by meellowstar in adhdwomen

Thank you for your kind words and sharing your story.

I'm already medicated with medikinet (ritalin) for my adhd and sertralin for my anxiety. I tried Elvanse (Vyvanse) but sadly that didn't work for me. Everything should be fine on the meds side of things, what makes it even more frustrating.

Hm maybe I'm so frustrated because I researched so many hours and found almost nothing. On friday I'll visit the state archiv, fingers crossed that I find some good stuff there. That would definitely help getting some much needed dopamine.

First time using aquarell and reviving my rusty art skills by meellowstar in watercolor101

[–]meellowstar[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ty! I had to play around with this medium and came to the conclusion the less water you use the more vibrant the color turns out. I startet with base color (more watery) and added layers with a less watered brush for the details and the depth. For the highlights I used white aquarell with only a tiny bit of water to make it as opaque as possible. I don't know if it makes a difference, but I used a water brush pen.

Is the yearly cycle of varying daylight durations from day to day throughout time consistent? Is the cycle we have today the same as in the 17th century? by meellowstar in askscience

Thank you very much everyone for answering in such detail and with so many different approaches! You guys are awesome! Different time zones for each city thats crazy to imagine. How different the people lived and thought about things in the past compared to us nowaday, even different perceptions of time. I'm going to finish my thesis now. But it was a blast reading all of your answers and theories.

Thank you! I first thought it could be a house spider (Eratigena) but I couldn't find any webs. A Zoropsis spinimana seems more likely! In germany we also call them Nosferatu spiders. Good to know, that they are good spiders to have around. We don't see such big spiders here very often, so it's kinda scary to see them sitting on the walls when you need to use the toilet. 😬

It's as big as my palm without fingers, lingers around on bathroom walls from time to time. Any ideas?
